Harvey M. Schwartz is the Chief Executive Officer of Carlyle and member of the Board of Directors. He has served in such capacity since February 15, 2023, and is based in New York.
 
Mr. Schwartz formerly worked at Goldman Sachs from 1997 to 2018, with his last position being President and Co-Chief Operating Officer. He also held numerous senior leadership positions including Chief Financial Officer and Global Co-Head of the Securities Division. Mr. Schwartz started his career at J. B. Hanauer & Co., and then moved to First Interregional Equity Corporation. In 1989, he joined Citigroup, where he worked in the firm's credit training program and developed a specialty in structuring commodity derivatives.
 
Mr. Schwartz serves on the board of One Mind, a nonprofit that accelerates collaborative research and advocacy to enable all individuals facing brain health challenges to build healthy, productive lives. He is involved in a range of investment and philanthropic endeavors that include a focus on mental health and developing future business leaders, including women and young people seeking a career in finance.
 
Mr. Schwartz earned his BA from Rutgers University, where he is a member of the university’s Board of Governors and its Hall of Distinguished Alumni. He received his MBA from Columbia University.

Mr. Conway is a Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board. Mr. Conway was appointed to our Board of Directors effective July 18, 2011. Previously, Mr. Conway served as our Interim Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to forming Carlyle in 1987, Mr. Conway was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MCI Communications Corporation (“MCI”). Mr. Conway was a Vice President and Treasurer of MCI from 1981 to 1984. Mr. Conway is former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine and a former trustee and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic University of America. He previously served as chairman and/or director of several public and private companies in which Carlyle had significant investment interests. Mr. Conway received his BA from Dartmouth College and his MBA in finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mr. Rubenstein is Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board. He was elected to our Board of Directors effective July 18, 2011. Previously, Mr. Rubenstein served as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Carlyle.

Mr. Rubenstein is a Baltimore native and is the Chairman, CEO, and principal owner of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles.

Prior to forming Carlyle in 1987, Mr. Rubenstein practiced law in Washington, D.C. with Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge LLP (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP). From 1977 to 1981, Mr. Rubenstein was Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. From 1975 to 1976, he served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments. From 1973 to 1975, Mr. Rubenstein practiced law in New York with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

Among other philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Rubenstein is Chairman of the Boards of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Gallery of Art, the Economic Club of Washington, and the University of Chicago; a Trustee of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Institute for Advanced Study, the National Constitution Center, the Brookings Institution, and the World Economic Forum; and a Director of Moderna, Inc., the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Rubenstein is a member of the American Philosophical Society, Business Council, Harvard Global Advisory Council, Madison Council of the Library of Congress, Board of Dean’s Advisors of the Business School at Harvard, Advisory Board of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, and Board of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community.

Mr. Rubenstein is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. Following Duke, Mr. Rubenstein graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.

Mr. D’Aniello is a Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Carlyle. He has served on our Board of Directors since the Board’s inception on July 18, 2011, serving as Chairman from 2012 until January 1, 2018. Prior to forming Carlyle in 1987, Mr. D’Aniello was the Vice President for Finance and Development at Marriott Corporation for eight years. Before joining Marriott, Mr. D’Aniello was a financial officer at PepsiCo, Inc. and Trans World Airlines. Mr. D'Aniello served in the United States Navy from 1968 through 1971 during which time he was a Distinguished Naval Graduate of Officer Candidate School, Newport R.I.; a Supply Officer (LTJG) aboard the USS Wasp (CVS 18); and in 2016, Mr. D'Aniello was awarded the designation of Lone Sailor by the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation. Mr. D’Aniello is Chairman of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research; Co-Chairman of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families; Chairman of the Wolf Trap Foundation of the Performing Arts; an Advisor to the John Templeton Foundation; a founding Trustee of the Lumen Institute; and a Lifetime Member of the Board of Trustees of Syracuse University, a member of the Chancellor’s Council and the Corporate Advisory Council to the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. Mr. D’Aniello previously served as chairman and/or director of several private and public companies in which Carlyle had significant investment interests. Mr. D’Aniello is a 1968 magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, and a 1974 graduate of the Harvard Business School, where he was a Teagle Foundation Fellow.

Ms. Beschloss was appointed to our Board of Directors effective May 1, 2024. Ms. Beschloss is an economist, a leader in sustainable and inclusive investing and policy, and founder and CEO of RockCreek, one of the world’s largest women-owned investment firms. Previously, she was Managing Director and partner at The Carlyle Group from 2001 to 2003. As the World Bank’s Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer, she led the Bank’s investments, balance sheet management, ratings, borrowings, and innovations in financial products and in technology. Prior to this, she led the World Bank’s investments and policy work in the renewable energy, power, and infrastructure sectors, notably pioneering investments in natural gas, wind, and solar energy. Previously, she worked in corporate finance at JP Morgan. Ms. Beschloss has advised various governments, central banks, and regulatory agencies on financial policy and energy policy. She serves on the boards of trustees of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Rockefeller Foundation, where she chairs the Investment Committee, the Bretton Woods Committee, where she co-chairs the Future of Finance Working Group, Georgetown University, and the PBS Foundation where she serves as chair. She was recognized by Carnegie Corporation in their “Great Immigrants, Great Americans 2020” list, received the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award and the Institutional Investor Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been listed among the “Most Powerful Women in Banking” by American Banker. She is the co-author of The Economics of Natural Gas (Oxford University Press) and author of numerous journal articles on innovations in finance, energy economics, and renewable energy investing. Ms. Beschloss holds an MPhil (Honors) in Economics from the University of Oxford, where she taught international trade and economic development.

Ms. Cherwoo was appointed to our Board of Directors effective June 1, 2023, and is a member of the Audit Committee. Ms. Cherwoo spent her entire, nearly 40-year career at Ernst & Young ("EY"), with a specialized industry focus on private equity, financial services, health care, and emerging disruptive technologies, across diverse industries. Most recently, she served as EY’s Americas Intelligent Automation Leader and Partner, a role in which she spearheaded and founded the company’s intelligent automation strategy focused on robotic process automation ("RPA") and artificial intelligence ("AI"), leading to talent development and transformation. She led and built a billion-dollar, market-leading digital transformation business, and worked with global clients and teams across diverse industries in more than 20 countries. During her EY tenure, Ms. Cherwoo also served as a Senior Advisory Partner in EY’s Private Equity practice group, from 2009 and served financial services clients as a Global Client Service Partner and Global Tax Account Leader, from 1991. From 2001 to 2004, Ms. Cherwoo served as the founding Chief Executive Officer of EY’s Global Shared Services operations in Bangalore, India, which was EY’s first global offshoring center for client-facing operations.

Ms. Cherwoo currently serves on the board of World Kinect Corporation and is a former board member of Doma Holdings Inc. and World Quantum Growth Acquisition Corporation. In addition, Ms. Cherwoo has been an Executive in Residence at Columbia Business School since 2023, a member of the Advisory Board of Land O’Lakes Inc. since 2020, a Board Director of Tax Analysts since 2020, a board member of the National Association of Corporate Directors – New York Chapter since 2021, and a member of the Board of Trustees of International House of New York since 2008.

Ms. Cherwoo is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.Sc. in Accounting as Valedictorian from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Ms. Cherwoo has also attended Executive Education programs at Harvard Business School for Strategic Leadership for EY Partners and at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.

Ms. Filler was appointed to our Board of Directors effective April 1, 2022, and is a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Ms. Filler retired as President of Retail Products, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Merchandising Officer at Walgreen Co. in 2017. Prior to Walgreen Co, Ms. Filler served in Executive Vice President roles at Walmart and at Kraft Foods. Prior to Kraft, Ms. Filler served a long tenure at Hanesbrands, including Group CEO roles of its largest branded apparel businesses. Ms. Filler is Lead Independent Director at Danaher Corporation, where she has served as a Director since 2004. She serves as Chair of the Nominating & Governance Committee and on the Science & Technology Committee. Ms. Filler also serves as Chair of Veralto Corporation, and on its Compensation Committee. Among other philanthropic activities, Ms. Filler serves as Chair of the Development Committee for the Chicago Public Library Foundation, and on the Foundation’s Executive Committee. Ms. Filler earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MS from the University of North Texas.

Ms. Fitt was appointed to our Board of Directors effective May 2, 2012, serves as our Lead Independent Director, is the Chairperson of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and a member of the Audit and Compensation Committees. Ms. Fitt served as Secretary (CEO) of the Royal Academy of Arts in London from October 2002 to March 2005. Prior to that, Ms. Fitt was a partner with Goldman Sachs & Co. Ms. Fitt is currently a director of Ciena Corporation (where she serves as chair of the Audit Committee) and The Progressive Corporation (where she serves as Chairperson, and serves on the Investment and Capital Committee and as chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee). Ms. Fitt is a former director of Micro Focus International, ARM Holdings PLC, and Thomson Reuters. She is also a trustee or director of several not-for-profit organizations including the Goldman Sachs Foundation. Ms. Fitt earned her AB in history at Brown University and her MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia.

Mr. Hance is an Operating Executive of Carlyle and a member of our Board of Directors. Mr. Hance was appointed to our Board of Directors effective May 2, 2012. Mr. Hance joined Carlyle in November 2005 as an Operating Executive and has worked primarily in our Global Credit segment and the financial services sector. Prior to joining Carlyle in 2005, Mr. Hance served as Vice Chairman of Bank of America from 1993 until his retirement on January 31, 2005 and served as Chief Financial Officer from 1988 to 2004. Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Hance spent 17 years with Price Waterhouse (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP). Mr. Hance is currently a director of Acuity Brands Inc. (where he serves as the Lead Independent Director and on the Audit Committee and Governance Committee).  Mr. Hance is a former director of Ford Motor Company, Sprint Nextel Corporation, Morgan Stanley, Duke Energy Corporation, Cousins Properties, Parkway, Inc. and Bank of America Corporation.  Mr. Hance serves as Emeritus Trustee on the Board of Trustees at Washington University in St. Louis and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. Mr. Hance graduated from Westminster College and received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a certified public accountant.

Mr. Ordan was appointed to our Board of Directors effective April 1, 2022, and is a member of the Compensation Committee. Mr. Ordan served as Executive Chair of Pediatrix Medical Group from January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, and continues to serve as Non-Executive Chair of its Board. Mr. Ordan formerly served as Chief Executive Officer of Pediatrix Medical Group from July 2020 through December 2022. Prior to joining Pediatrix Medical Group, Mr. Ordan founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Quality Care Properties after serving as founding Chief Executive Officer of Washington Prime Group. Mr. Ordan has held a number of CEO roles including at Sunrise Senior Living, The Mills Corporation, and Balducci’s, and was founder and CEO of Fresh Fields Markets, which he later merged with Whole Foods Markets. Mr. Ordan is the Board Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ordan received his BA from Vassar College, and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He serves on the boards of Vassar College and Holton-Arms School.

Mr. Rice was appointed to our Board of Directors effective March 8, 2021, and is a member of the Audit and Compensation Committees. Mr. Rice served as executive vice president of CVS Health and President of CVS Caremark, the pharmacy benefits management business of CVS Health, from March 2018 to February 2020. Previously, he held various executive positions at Eli Lilly and Company, most recently executive vice president of Global Services and chief financial officer from 2006 to 2017. Mr. Rice is currently a director of Bristol-Meyers Squibb Company (where he serves on the Audit Committee and the Compensation and Management Development Committee), Target Corporation (where he serves on the Audit and Finance Committee and the Infrastructure and Investment Committee) and The Walt Disney Company (where he serves on the Audit Committee). Mr. Rice received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kettering University and an MBA from Indiana University.

Mr. Shaw was appointed to our Board of Directors effective May 2, 2012 and is the Chairperson of the Audit Committee.

Mr. Shaw was the Vice Chairman of Marriott International, Inc. until his retirement in March 2011. Prior to becoming Vice Chairman of Marriott, Mr. Shaw served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Marriott from 1997 until 2009. Mr. Shaw joined Marriott in 1974 and held various positions, including Corporate Controller, Corporate Vice President, Senior Vice President-Finance, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and President of Marriott Service Group. Prior to joining Marriott, Mr. Shaw worked at Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Shaw is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation, a Director of DiamondRock Hospitality (where he serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and serves on the Compensation Committee and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee) and is a former member of the Board of Trustees of three funds in the American Family of mutual funds from 2009 to 2015. Mr. Shaw serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Welters was appointed to our Board of Directors effective October 27, 2015, and is the Chairperson of the Compensation Committee, as well as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. He is Founder, Chairman and CEO of CINQCARE Inc., a physician-led, community-based ambulatory care delivery system that delivers whole person care in the home, whenever possible, to Black and Brown communities. He is Executive Chairman of the BlackIvy Group, an organization focused on building and growing commercial enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Chairman of Somatus, Inc., a value-based kidney care company. Mr. Welters founded AmeriChoice in 1989 and upon acquisition by UnitedHealth Group (UHG) in 2002, joined UHG serving as Senior Adviser to the Office of the CEO, Executive Vice President and Member of the Office of the CEO, retiring in 2016. He currently serves on the public boards of Loews Corporation and Gilead Sciences, Inc. Mr. Welters is Trustee Emeritus of Morehouse School of Medicine Board of Trustees, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of New York University School of Law, Vice Chairman of the Board of New York University, a Trustee of NYU Langone Medical Center, Vice Chair of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and a founding member of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Charles Andrews is the Chief Accounting Officer of Carlyle and has served in such capacity since 2020. He is based in Washington, D.C.

Since joining Carlyle in 2015, Mr. Andrews has also served as Carlyle’s Corporate Controller and Director of Accounting Policy and SEC Reporting. Prior to joining Carlyle, Charles was with Ernst & Young LLP in the Assurance Services practice and with Navigant Consulting, Inc. in the Disputes & Investigations practice. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

As Global Head of Investment Solutions, Carlyle | AlpInvest, Ruulke Bagijn is part of the leadership team of one of largest global investment firms in the world. She also serves as Chair of the Board of AlpInvest, Carlyle’s dedicated private equity primary fund, co-investment, and secondary solutions platform with $80 billion AUM (per Q1 2024) and investment professionals in New York, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In addition, Ms. Bagijn is a member of the AlpInvest Global Investment Committee, which makes all investment decisions in Europe, North and Latin America, Asia, and Australia on behalf of its 450+ investors worldwide.
 
Based in New York, Ms. Ruulke has 20+ years of experience in global investments and a deep knowledge of private capital portfolios. She joined AlpInvest from AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets, where she was the Global Head of Real Assets Private Equity and a member of its Management Board. Before that, she was Co-Chief Investment Officer of Investment Management and Chief Investment Officer of Private Markets at PGGM, with direct responsibility for managing investments in infrastructure, hedge funds, structured credit, private equity, insurance-linked securities, and private real estate, and held senior roles at ABN AMRO.  
 
A passionate advocate of the business case for diversity, including involving more women in private equity, Ms. Bagijn has been named a Wall Street Journal Pro PE ‘Woman to Watch,’ sits on the Carlyle Diversity & Inclusion Council and is an inaugural member of the Milken Institute’s Center for Inclusive Capitalism. Born in the Netherlands, she was also the inaugural chair of the Dutch committee of Level 20, the not-for-profit body established to inspire women to join and succeed in the Private Equity industry in the Netherlands. 
 
Ruulke received an MSc in economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, is a CFA charterholder, and serves as a Board member of the Netherland-America Foundation (NAF), which supports high-impact exchange between the two countries.

Jennifer Barker is the Chief Human Resources Officer. She is also a member of Carlyle’s Leadership and Operating Committees. She is based in London.

Previously, Ms. Barker was International Head of Human Capital, where she partnered with businesses across Europe and Asia to ensure their HR objectives are aligned to the business strategy. She also provided advisory services to Carlyle investment teams, specializing in maximizing organizational, operational and leadership effectiveness across Carlyle’s European portfolio of companies, partnering with the CEO’s, CHRO’s and their Management Teams.

Ms. Barker has over 25 years of experience in talent related roles. Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Barker spent eleven years in Human Resources at Credit Suisse where she held a number of regional HR Business Partner roles and served as head of diversity and inclusion for EMEA. Prior to Credit Suisse, Ms. Barker worked as the Business Partner in the investment divisions of Merrill Lynch and Citigroup.

Brian A. Bernasek is a Partner and Co-Head of Americas Corporate Private Equity at Carlyle. Carlyle’s Americas Corporate Private Equity business has $67 billion in assets under management with diversified investments spanning industries, geographies, and strategies. He is also a member of Carlyle's Leadership Committee and serves on several firm investment committees.

Mr. Bernasek previously served as Co-Head of US Buyout and Growth as well as Head of the Global Industrial team at Carlyle. He joined Carlyle in 2000 and previously held positions in New York with Investcorp International, a private equity firm, and Morgan Stanley & Co., in its Investment Banking Division.

Mr. Bernasek has served as a director on the board of several Carlyle investments, including Allison Transmission, Atotech, HD Supply, The Hertz Corporation, Novolex and Signode Industrial Group. He currently serves as a director on the Board of Nouryon and ManTech International. He is also a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Washington Jesuit Academy.

Mr. Bernasek is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Shane Clifford

Shane Clifford is a Managing DirectorPartner and Head of Global Wealth at Carlyle. He is based in New York. He is also a member of Carlyle’s Leadership Committee.

He has over 20 years of industry experience leading business development and strategy for large alternative assets and financial services firms. Prior to joining Carlyle, he was a Senior Managing Director at Franklin Templeton where he was responsible for the global growth strategy and business development of their suite of alternatives offerings. 

Previously, Mr. Clifford held several senior leadership and business development positions at Legg Mason subsidiaries, including Global Head of Corporate Strategy at EnTrustPermal as well as Global Head of Business Development at Permal Group, where he built and managed the global business development team, including sales, investor relations, client service and marketing. 

He began his career at Merrill Lynch before working for BlackRock in the U.S., UK, Middle East and Latin America. 

Mr. Clifford is a graduate of the University of Limerick, Ireland, and holds an MBA from the Boston University Graduate School of Management.

Mr. Ferguson joined Carlyle in 1999. In his capacity as the global General Counsel of Carlyle, he serves as the head of the firm’s legal and compliance functions. He is also a member of Carlyle’s Leadership, Operating, and Risk Committees. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Ferguson worked as an attorney with Latham & Watkins and Vinson & Elkins. Mr. Ferguson received his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law in 1991. He also received an undergraduate degree in political science from University of Virginia, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Ferguson is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Harris was a Senior Analyst in Equity Research at Goldman Sachs, and prior to that worked in equity research at J.P. Morgan and corporate strategy at Oliver Wyman.

Mr. Harris received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University.

Sandra Horbach is a Partner and the Chair of Americas Corporate Private Equity at Carlyle, based in New York. In this role, she serves on the investment committees of Carlyle’s US Corporate Private Equity (CPE) funds, supports the management of new and existing investments, provides valuable advice and insights to the CPE teams, and helps drive several of the firm's strategic growth initiatives including expanding Carlyle’s Private Equity products in the Wealth channel and the integration of Artificial Intelligence and data analytics into investment strategies.

Previously, she was Co-Head of Americas Corporate Private Equity, overseeing more than $70B in assets under management. Since joining Carlyle in 2005, she had led major investments across various industries. Ms. Horbach is a founding member of Carlyle’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council and has been a leader in championing diversity in the private equity industry.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Horbach spent 18 years at the private equity firm Forstmann Little. In 1992, she became the first woman to be named a partner at a major private equity firm. Prior to Forstmann Little, Ms. Horbach spent two years at Morgan Stanley in the M&A department. She earned her MBA from Stanford University and her BA in Chinese Studies from Wellesley College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude. She studied at Fudan University in Shanghai in 1980 and at the National University of Taipei in 1983.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Horbach has served on many corporate and non-profit boards. She currently serves as a director on the Board at Hexaware, and as a Trustee at Rockefeller University and Wellesley College. Ms. Horbach was a member of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business Advisory Council for 15 years, including serving as Chair for four years. Ms. Horbach has been recognized in the Barron’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Finance list since its inception and the Yahoo! Finance HERoes Top 100 Women Executives List in 2020 and 2021.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Jenkins was a Senior Managing Director at CPPIB and responsible for leading CPPIB’s Global Private Investment group. He was Chair of the Credit Investment Committee, Chair of the Private Investments Committee and also managed the portfolio value creation group. While at CPPIB, Mr. Jenkins founded CPPIB Credit Investments, which is a multi-strategy platform making direct principal credit investments. He also led CPPIB’s acquisition and oversight of Antares Capital and the subsequent expansion in middle market lending. Prior to CPPIB, he was Managing Director, Co-Head of Leveraged Finance Origination and Execution for Barclays Capital in New York. Before Barclays, Mr. Jenkins worked for 11 years at Goldman Sachs & Co. in senior positions within the Fixed Income and Financing groups in New York.

Mr. Jenkins earned a B.Comm degree from Queen’s University. He served on the boards of Wilton Re, Teine Energy, Antares Capital and Merchant Capital Solutions.

Lindsay LoBue

Lindsay LoBue is Chief Operating Officer of Carlyle. She is based in New York. Ms. LoBue is a member of Carlyle’s Leadership and Operating Committees.

Previously, she was Deputy COO of Carlyle from October 2023 to June 2024. Prior to that, Ms. LoBue spent over 20 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as an Advisory Director working across global divisions on strategic growth initiatives. Before that, Ms. LoBue was a Partner in the Global Markets division, responsible for leading and managing client-facing businesses in a variety of areas. She managed the firm’s Investment Grade Corporate Bond sales team, expanding their cross-product distribution. In addition, she founded the Credit Products Group, a solutions business for illiquid and esoteric risk, and led the growth of the firm’s Structured Products, Relative Value and Solutions, and Credit Derivatives franchise efforts, capitalizing on evolving market opportunities. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ms. LoBue was a Structured Products Salesperson and CMBS Research Analyst at J.P. Morgan. 

Ms. LoBue was also the founder of Greenback Labs, a platform that focused on advancing emerging ideas and businesses by working with entrepreneurs to validate business ideas and execute growth strategies.

Ms. LoBue is a Board Member of Enel Finance Americas, the financing arm within the Enel Group, and she is a member of the Board of Regents at Boston College.

Ms. LoBue has an MBA in Finance and Marketing from NYU, and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Psychology from Boston College.

Heather Mitchell is a Partner, Managing Director and Head of the firm’s EMEA region. She is also Carlyle’s Chief Risk Officer, chairing the firm’s Risk Committee and global General Counsel for Investments. She is based in London.

In 2023, Ms. Mitchell was included on Private Equity News/Financial News’ list of “Twenty Trailblazing Women” for the second year in a row. In 2023 she was feature in the Heroes Women Executive Role Model List for the year. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, Ms. Mitchell was included in the Financial News’ list of 50 Most Influential in European Private Equity. In 2019, 2020 and again in 2021, Ms. Mitchell was named to the 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance by Financial News. In 2019, Ms. Mitchell was named to the inaugural Chambers GC Influencers Global 100. This prestigious list highlights the top 100 most influential in-house lawyers globally, and Ms. Mitchell was singled out as an Industry Pioneer. He leads the global investor relations team and oversees global distribution across the firm’s three business segments, with a focus on both the institutional and global wealth channels. Mr. Nedelman was previously a Partner and Senior Managing Director at Certares. He was a member of the Investment Committee and the Management Committee of Certares Management LLC, as well as a member of the Investment Committee and the Management Committee of the CK Opportunities Fund. Prior to joining Certares in 2020, Mr. Nedelman spent over 25 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as the Co-Chief Operating Officer of Global Equities, where he played a lead role expanding the firm’s financing and execution products and services. He was a member of the Firmwide Client and Business Standards Committee and the Securities Division Executive Committee. Previously, he was Global Head of Prime Services, which included the Prime Brokerage, Clearing (GSEC), and Futures businesses. Prior to that, he was Head of Americas Equity Sales.

John C. Redett is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Strategy at Carlyle. He is based in New York.

Mr. Redett joined Carlyle in 2007 as an investor on the Global Financial Services team. He formerly served as the sole Head of Global Financial Services from 2020 to September 2023 and the Co-Head of Global Financial Services from 2016 to 2020.

Mr. Redett is a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry and has been deeply involved in the operations and management of many financial services businesses during his career. He has led or been a key contributor to some of Carlyle’s significant investments across various subsectors of financial services, including Duff & Phelps, TCW, BankUnited, Hilb Group, EPIC, DBRS, Central Pacific Bank, CFGI, Sedgwick, PIB Group, and JenCap. He currently serves on the boards of directors for Hilb Group and NSM Insurance Group. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Redett worked at Goldman Sachs from 2005 to 2007, and JPMorgan from 2000 to 2005.

Brian Schreiber

Mr. Schreiber is a Managing Director and Head of Carlyle Insurance Solutions where he also serves as Chairman of Fortitude Re, Carlyle’s legacy insurance liability solutions platform, and as a board member of Vantage Group Holdings. He is also a member of Carlyle's Leadership Committee.

Mr. Schreiber joined Carlyle in 2016 as Co-head of Carlyle Global Financial Services Partners after spending 20 years at AIG in a variety of senior executive positions, including: Chief Strategy Officer, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, and Global Treasurer, and where he was a member of AIG’s Operating, Group Risk, and Investment Committees.  He served as a board member of United Guaranty, AIG’s mortgage insurance subsidiary, and Varagon Capital, AIG’s middle market direct lending joint venture.

Mr. Schreiber was a key member of AIG’s executive leadership team that engineered and executed AIG’s successful restructuring and recapitalization. He led AIG’s divestiture, hedging and capital markets activities coming out of the financial crisis, executing over 120 transactions (debt, equity, M&A) and raising over $200 billion. Prior to the crisis, Mr. Schreiber was responsible for leading approximately $60 billion of acquisitions and strategic investments for AIG, including: SunAmerica, American General, and Edison Insurance Japan. 

Prior to AIG, Mr. Schreiber invested in financial services companies for the Bass Brothers, was an investment banker in Lehman Brothers’ Financial Institutions Group, and started his career as a research associate for Booz Allen & Hamilton. 

Mr. Schreiber earned his undergraduate degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Lúcia Soares is the Chief Information Officer and Head of Technology Transformation at Carlyle. In this role, Ms. Soares is responsible for driving the firm’s global technology strategy and leading the firmwide Global Technology Solutions organization.

Previously, Ms. Soares was Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of Global Portfolio Solutions at Carlyle. Ms. Soares has provided technology advisory to Carlyle investment teams and has worked with portfolio company executive teams leveraging technology to transform business operations and outcomes. In the last two years, Ms. Soares has driven approximately $250 million in value creation for Carlyle’s investments globally through cost savings, cost avoidance, and revenue growth initiatives. She is based in Menlo Park, California.

Ms. Soares has served as a Director on the board of several Carlyle investments including The Hilb Group and Hexaware where her significant contributions include driving data transformation, top-line revenue growth and cost optimization opportunities, and accelerating strategic partnerships to enable company growth and scalability.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 2019, Ms. Soares was a Managing Director at Health2047 leading venture formations that addressed U.S. healthcare challenges. Before Health 2047, she spent 15 years at Johnson & Johnson, serving in a variety of executive roles. As CIO and board member of multiple high-growth medical device businesses, she created technology strategies to grow and optimize businesses with the use of technology. Ms. Soares began her career working for an early Internet professional services agency, USWeb / marchFIRST, where she partnered with clients to build first-generation web solutions and built the west coast User Experience practice.

Ms. Soares completed Executive Education coursework at Harvard Business School and earned an MBA from San Jose State University, a Masters in Literature from UC Santa Cruz, and a B.A. in Foreign Languages from San Jose State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Megan Starr is a Partner and the Global Head of Corporate Affairs at Carlyle. In her role, Ms. Starr leads Carlyle's approach to stakeholder engagement. She oversees the Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, and Sustainability functions and acts as a unified enabler of firmwide growth and performance.

Previously, Ms. Starr was Carlyle’s Global Head of Impact. In that role, she led Carlyle’s Sustainability team, which manages the firm's investment diligence and portfolio company engagement work on material ESG issues. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Starr served in Goldman Sachs' Investment Management Division, where she helped build the ESG and impact investing business. Prior to that, Ms. Starr served in various roles at The JPB Foundation, a private family foundation based in New York City.

Ms. Starr received an M.B.A. and a Certificate in Public Management and Social Innovation from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, where she was an Arbuckle Leadership Fellow, and an A.B. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard College, where she graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in her field of concentration.

Admiral James Stavridis, USN, Ret, is Vice Chair, Global Affairs and a Partner with a focus on international activities and global strategy for Carlyle. He is based in Washington DC.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 2018, Admiral Stavridis served as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, with responsibility for Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, the Balkans, counter-piracy off Africa, the Arctic, and cybersecurity.  Prior to that, he was Commander of US Southern Command, with responsibility for all military activity in Latin America and the Caribbean. Following his 37-years in the military, he served as the 12th Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University for five years.  He is the 12th Chair of the Board of the Rockefeller Foundation, a Bloomberg Opinion weekly columnist, and Chief International Analyst for NBC News.

Admiral Stavridis holds a PhD and Masters of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the National War College.

Jason Thomas

Jason Thomas is Head of Global Research & Investment Strategy at Carlyle. Mr. Thomas helps to formulate firmwide investment strategies and serves as the Chief Investment Officer for managed accounts and the economic adviser to the firm’s Global Private Equity and Credit Investment Committees. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Thomas served on the White House staff as Special Assistant to the President and Director for Policy Development at the National Economic Council. In this capacity, Mr. Thomas acted as the primary adviser to the President for public finance.

Mr. Thomas received a BA from Claremont McKenna College and an MS and PhD in finance from George Washington University, where he studied as a Bank of America Foundation, Leo and Lillian Goodwin Foundation, and School of Business Fellow.

Mr. Thomas has earned the chartered financial analyst designation and is a Financial Risk Manager certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

Michael Wand

Mr. Wand has led numerous technology investments, notably P&I AG, FRS Global, UC4/Automic, Foundry, eggplant and Dept, and advised on a dozen completed realizations. Mr. Wand is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Shopware, SER Group, HSO, Dept, Disguise, LiveU and Incubeta.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 2001, Mr. Wand worked for approximately 10 years in investment banking, the last seven years of which were in the technology sector. As a Managing Director, he was responsible for the European software and Internet research team at Deutsche Bank in London. Prior to that, he worked as a European Software Analyst for Paribas in London and BHF-Bank in Frankfurt, Germany. During his banking career, Mr. Wand was the underwriting analyst for European technology innovators such as SAP, Autonomy, SurfControl, Utimaco and nCipher.

Stephen H. Wise

Previously, he was the Global Head of Healthcare at Carlyle, where he led nearly $20 billion of equity investments in healthcare companies worldwide. Since joining Carlyle in 2006, Mr. Wise has played a pivotal role in several notable investments, including CorroHealth, a business service provider for healthcare companies; Curia, a contract research and drug manufacturing organization; Medline, a leading global branded medical products manufacturer with a wholly-owned vertically integrated distribution network; MedRisk, a physical therapy-focused workers’ compensation solutions company; Millicent Pharma, a pharmaceutical company; MultiPlan, a scaled independent preferred provider organization; QuidelOrtho, a global provider of in vitro diagnostic solutions for screening, diagnosing, monitoring, and confirming diseases; Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD), a global contract research organization; Rede D’Or São Luiz, a hospital provider in Brazil; Resonetics, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization specializing in complex micro-manufacturing of components for medical device original equipment manufacturers; Sedgwick, a global multiline claims management firm; TriNetX, a global health research network optimizing clinical research; Unchained Labs, a global life science tools company; and WellDyneRx, an independent pharmacy benefit manager. Mr. Wise serves as a director on the boards of Curia, Launch Therapeutics, Medline, Resonetics, and Sedgwick. Mr. Wise also serves on the advisory board for the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Global Health.

Mr. Wise earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Bucknell University and received his master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Tamotsu Adachi

Senior Advisor

Tamotsu Adachi is a Senior Advisor to the Japan buyout advisory team. He is based in Tokyo.

From May 2003 until May 2016, Mr. Adachi served as a Head of Carlyle Japan buyout team and led the team to become one of the most successful private equity funds in Japan. He has been widely involved in several transactions in which Carlyle’s funds have invested including the acquisitions of Kito Corporation, Colin Medical Technology, Willcom, Inc., Qualicaps Group, Chimney Co., Ltd., and Tsubaki Nakashima Co., Ltd.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Adachi served from 1997 to 2003 at General Electric Capital Corporation in a variety of senior capacities, including President and Chief Executive Officer of Japan Auto Lease and Managing Director for New Business Development. From 1988 to 1997, he served in several senior positions at McKinsey & Company, including Partner and Senior Engagement Manager. At McKinsey, Mr. Adachi gained extensive experience in new business development and organizational design, and worked closely with clients in the electronics, multimedia, automobile, and healthcare industries. From 1977 to 1987, he served at Mitsubishi Corporation, where he contributed to the successful launch of DDI, a new telecommunications venture.

Mr. Adachi served as Representative Director and President of Benesse Holdings from October 2016, as President CEO from June 2020, and as Chairman CEO from April 2021 to March 2022.  

He was a Chairman of the Japan Private Equity Association from 2009 to 2011.

Mr. Adachi received his B.S. in engineering at the University of Tokyo and earned his master's in management from MIT's Sloan School.

Hiroyuki Aota

Hiroyuki Aota is a Senior Advisor to the Japan Buyout advisory team, focused on opportunities in the general industries sector.  He is based in Tokyo.

Mr. Aota brings nearly 40 years of experience in the general industries sector having held a number of leadership roles at Panasonic Corporation, where he served as Director from 2015-2019, Executive Director from 2019-2021, Vice President at Panasonic Connected Solutions Company from 2017-2020, and concurrently at Panasonic Smart Factory Solutions Company, President from 2015-2020 and Chairman from 2020-2021. Prior to this, he held several senior management roles within the Panasonic Group including Director and Executive Planning Director at Automotive & Industrial Systems Company, Director at the Primary Battery and Electric Motor divisions, and President of Matsushita Electric Motor Company America. During this time, Mr. Aota drove innovation across the manufacturing process, improving frontline operations through integration and automation.

Mr. Aota earned his B.A. in Economics from the Kwansei Gakuin University.

Colin Atkins

Colin Atkins is a Senior Advisor focused on Liquid Credit. He was formally Co-Head of Liquid Credit for 3 years and Head of European Structured Credit for 13 years.
 
Mr. Atkins joined Carlyle as a Director in November 2004 at the inception of the business and has been actively involved in credit analysis, trading, portfolio management and marketing CLOs that have been managed by the European Structured Credit team.
 
Mr. Atkins’ previous role was at Prudential M&G where he helped establish Prudential M&G’s Leveraged Finance platform.
 
Mr. Atkins holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from Nottingham Trent University. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Management Accountants (ACMA) and is a CFA Charterholder.

James A. Attwood, Jr.

Jim Attwood is a Senior Advisor based in New York. 

Between 2000 and 2017 Mr. Attwood directed Carlyle’s private equity investments in the media and telecommunications industries globally, and between 2014 and 2017 he directed the firm’s investments in the technology industry as well. 

He presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Syniverse Technologies. He also serves as a member of the Harvard Law School Dean’s Advisory Board, The Friends of MVY Radio (Chairman), the Board of Directors of The Nature Conservancy, and as Chairman of WNET Board of Trustees and the Board of Trustees for Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, and as Independent Director at CoreSite Realty Corp. Before Carlyle, Mr. Attwood served as Executive Vice President for Strategy, Development and Planning at Verizon Communications, and held the same position at GTE Corporation prior to that. Mr. Attwood began his professional career as an investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked in both New York and Tokyo.


Mr. Attwood received his BA in Applied Mathematics and MA in Statistics from Yale in 1980. In 1985, he received both his JD and MBA degrees from Harvard.

Ron Books

Ron Books is an Operating Executive working in the technology sector with a specific focus on leading value creation initiatives.

Mr. Books also serves as Chairman for ECI Software Solutions, an established leader in providing industry-specific, end-to-end, business management solutions across several different vertical markets. Mr. Books started with ECI when it was a start-up company and rose in the organization to serve as VP Sales, then COO and then CEO, a position which he held from 2009 to 2021.  While serving as CEO, Mr. Books and his team developed and executed a strategic plan that included overseeing forty-one M&A transactions and a successful software license to cloud migration across nearly a dozen platforms.  Under his leadership as CEO, ECI grew from less than $50 million in revenue to over $450 million and a sale of the company in 2020 at a multi-billion dollar valuation.

Aernout Boot

Senior Advisor

Aernout Boot is a Senior Advisor focused on the international energy sector. He is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Previously, Mr. Boot served as Managing Director of VTTI Asia where he led their flagship oil terminal in Malaysia as well as development and growth opportunities in Asia and Australia. From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Boot served as Global Commercial Director for VTTI, where he was responsible for VTTI’s global network of oil terminals. Prior to that, he held management roles with Vitol in Dubai, UAE and Vopak in Fujiairah, UAE. Mr. Boot started his career in the oil industry as a management trainee at Petroplus in 1998, where he worked in the Swiss terminal business based in Zug, Switzerland and was also instrumental in the development of the Dragon LNG project in Milford Haven, Wales, and ultimately moved on to a role in Petroplus Dubai.

Mr. Boot holds a doctoral degree in Arabic language and Middle Eastern studies from Leiden University.

Jonathan E. Colby

Jonathan Colby is a Senior Advisor based in Washington, DC focused on working with investors as well as serving on the investment committees for Carlyle Japan Partners I, II and III.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 1998, Mr. Colby was with Equinox Group Holdings, Ltd., a merchant bank specializing in private equity investments and corporate advisory services in Asia.  Prior to that, Mr. Colby was a Senior Managing Director of The Blackstone Group, and before that was head of Asian mergers and acquisitions at The First Boston Corporation in Tokyo. Mr. Colby also served on the National Security Council staff under the direction of Dr. Henry A. Kissinger.

Mr. Colby is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., where he also serves as the Chair of Brookings' Foreign Policy Leadership Council.

Mr. Colby is a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School and currently holds Series 63 and 82 licenses; he previously maintained a Series 7 license.

Kevin Costello

Kevin Costello is an Operating Executive focusing on the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.

Mr. Costello has been an active investor, operator, and advisor to a wide variety of technology companies. He currently sits on the board of FinancialForce.com, Inc., Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, Blue Cat Networks, Inc. and Kahua, Inc., all privately-held companies. He was formerly lead independent director of Rackspace Inc., a director of Cbeyond, Inc., and a director of The Rainmaker Group, Inc. He was executive chairman of Top Tech Holdings, Inc. Mr. Costello served as a director of Vantiv, Inc. from 2014 to 2017 and as a director of its successor Worldpay, Inc. until July 2019. Mr. Costello served in a variety of senior roles at Ariba, Inc. from 2002 to 2007 and as President from 2007 until its acquisition by SAP in 2012. Following that acquisition, Mr. Costello served as president of Ariba, an SAP Company, from 2012 to 2014. Prior to joining Ariba, Mr. Costello spent 18 years with Andersen Business Consulting, during which he served in various senior management positions.

Simon Dingemans

Senior Advisor

Simon is a Senior Advisor focused on the Healthcare sector and investment opportunities in the UK. He is based in London.

He serves on the boards of Carlyle portfolio companies END., Schoen Klinic and Calastone where he is Chairman.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Dingemans was Chief Financial Officer for GlaxoSmithKline plc and a member of the main Board from 2011 to 2019 where he drove extensive restructuring and operational improvements as well as a number of significant strategic transactions. As CFO, he was responsible for leading Finance and a variety of other functions including Procurement, Real Estate as well as Technology and IT, including Cyber Security.

Before GSK, he was an investment banker for 25 years at SG Warburg and then Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner for 10 years as a leader of their European M&A business and Head of UK Investment Banking.

Mr. Dingemans served as Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council in 2019/2020.

Elmer Doty

Operating Executive

Elmer Doty is an Operating Executive focused on the aerospace and defense and industrial sectors.

Previously, Mr. Doty has been President and Chief Operating Officer of Arconic, Inc a major producer of aluminum sheet and plate and precision castings and components for aerospace. Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Carlyle portfolio company Accudyne Industries, a major producer of high-pressure pumps and compressors. Prior to that position, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Carlyle portfolio company Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., a leading aerostructures company. Prior to Vought, Mr. Doty was Executive Vice President of Carlyle portfolio company United Defense Industries, Inc. (now BAE Systems), where he led a division that produced and supported the majority of the U.S. military’s combat vehicles.

Mr. Doty has over 40 years of leadership experience in heavy industry, with General Electric, FMC Corporation, United Defense Industries, Inc., BAE Systems, Vought, Accudyne, and Arconic. He is presently a director of Arconic, Inc., LOC Performance LLC, Array LLC, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cooper Institute and a director of the Men of Nehemiah.

Mr. Doty earned a Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri, and has received Executive Education at Harvard Business School and University of Chicago.

Francis A. Finelli

Frank Finelli is a Senior Advisor. He joined The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm, in December 1998, where he was Managing Director focusing on investments in the defense and aerospace sector. He has led numerous acquisitions and developed Carlyle’s cross-portfolio purchasing and functional initiatives.  He has been repeatedly selected for the Defense News 100 Most Influential and Executive Mosaic WASH100 distinctions.

Prior to that, Mr. Finelli served as legislative assistant for then-Senator Dan Coats (R-IN), member of the Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on Intelligence.  Before retiring as an Army Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Finelli served as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the first Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) in 1997.  He also worked for the Vice Chairman in restructuring the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC), when he also coordinated reviews of communications and intelligence programs.  From 1986 to 1989, he was an Associate Professor of Economics at the U.S. Military Academy, where he taught econometrics and conducted manpower and defense procurement analyses.   A Field Artillery Master Gunner, Mr. Finelli served in the 82d Airborne, 1st Armored, and 3d Infantry Divisions.

Mr. Finelli is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, where he was also a varsity letterman in swimming and water polo.  He holds a Master of Sciences in Finance and Operations Research from Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Military Arts in Strategy from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.  Mr. Finelli is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Lexington Institute, and The Atlantic Council. He is the former gubernatorially appointed Chairman of the Virginia’s Veteran Services Foundation.  He also serves as a Board Director for Army Emergency Relief (AER) and Business Executives for National Security (BENS), as well as a Member of the MIT Sloan Americas Executive Board.  

Mr. Finelli and his wife Katherine reside in McLean VA and have three adult children:  former Army Captain Paul Finelli and his wife Lisa, Drew and his wife Jenna, and Laura.  His military awards include the Defense Superior Service Award, the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf cluster, the Honor Cross of the German Armed Forces in Silver, the Ranger Tab and Master Parachutist badge. 

Thomas Foussé

Senior Advisor

Thomas Foussé is a Senior Advisor in Investor Relations, based in London.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Foussé was responsible for the private equity fundraising activities throughout Europe, as part of the Private Equity Group at Merrill Lynch. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Foussé was with Banque Paribas for three years, first as an Equity Analyst in the Merchant Banking Department in Germany and then, as a Portfolio Manager in the Asset Management Group in Paris.

Mr. Foussé received his MBA from Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and his undergraduate degree from Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris. He has been registered with the FSA since 2007 for the CF30 controlled function, and he held a Series 7 license from 1994 to 2001.

Charles Geoly

Operating Executive

Charley Geoly is an Operating Executive working with our portfolio companies on how best to manage their human capital strategies as well as our deal teams to extend our executive reach across various subsegments (software, services, and infrastructure) and investment classes (growth, buyout, and structured investments). He also serves as an advisor to numerous public boards on CEO succession and board construction.

Previously, Mr. Geoly was a senior member of Russell Reynolds Associates, one of the world’s leading leadership advisory firms. During his 25-year career at Russell Reynolds Associates, Mr. Geoly led several practices, managed the global technology sector, led the Palo Alto office and served on the Executive Committee of the Firm. As part of his consulting activities, Mr. Geoly also championed the significant expansion of diversity within the boardroom.

Prior to Russell Reynolds Associates, Mr. Geoly spent nearly 10 years with DuPont in a variety of roles including R&D, Sales & Marketing and business leadership. Mr. Geoly graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware and an M.B.A. with a finance concentration from Rice University.

James H. Hance, Jr.

Operating Executive and Director

Mr. Hance is an Operating Executive of Carlyle and a member of our Board of Directors. Mr. Hance was appointed to our Board of Directors effective May 2, 2012. Mr. Hance joined Carlyle in November 2005 as an Operating Executive and has worked primarily in our Global Credit segment and the financial services sector. Prior to joining Carlyle in 2005, Mr. Hance served as Vice Chairman of Bank of America from 1993 until his retirement on January 31, 2005 and served as Chief Financial Officer from 1988 to 2004. Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Hance spent 17 years with Price Waterhouse (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP). Mr. Hance is currently a director of Acuity Brands Inc. (where he serves as the Lead Independent Director and on the Audit Committee and Governance Committee).  Mr. Hance is a former director of Ford Motor Company, Sprint Nextel Corporation, Morgan Stanley, Duke Energy Corporation, Cousins Properties, Parkway, Inc. and Bank of America Corporation.  Mr. Hance serves as Emeritus Trustee on the Board of Trustees at Washington University in St. Louis and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. Mr. Hance graduated from Westminster College and received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a certified public accountant.

Randall Hickok

Operating Executive

Randall Hickok is an Operating Executive focused on Carlyle’s investments in renewable and sustainable energy, with a specific focus on the U.S. market. He is based in California.

Mr. Hickok is an energy industry veteran of 33 years, whose career began with regulated interstate gas pipelines, ran through non-regulated gas-fired independent power plant ownership and operations and culminating in renewable energy as the COO of Clearway Energy.

In Mr. Hickok’s 11 years at Clearway, he presided over the founding and growth of a renewable energy fleet comprised of utility-scale solar power plants, wind farms and battery storage, as well as portfolios of smaller distributed generation and community solar facilities, reaching 9.4 GW of combined operating and activity under construction facilities across the U.S. at the time of his retirement. During Mr. Hickok’s time at Clearway, he was responsible for Asset Management, Performance Analytics, Operations and Maintenance, O&M Procurement, O&M Engineering and Construction Management.

Prior to Clearway, Mr. Hickok worked in senior management positions at NRG, Dynegy, LS Power and Duke Energy, where he gained skills in business development, M&A due diligence and valuations, government affairs and corporate planning.

Mr. Hickok earned a BBA degree in Finance and Business Analysis from Texas A&M University.

Chikatomo Hodo

Senior Advisor

Chikatomo Hodo is a Senior Advisor to the Japan buyout advisory team, focused on opportunities in the TMT sector.  He is based in Tokyo.

Mr. Hodo, former President and Chairman of Accenture Japan, brings to Carlyle nearly 40 years of experience in the TMT sector. He joined Accenture Japan in 1982, and since then, held several leadership roles including Senior Corporate Advisor from 2017 to 2021, Chairman from 2015 to 2017, and President from 2006 to 2015 with overall responsibility for Accenture’s business in Japan. During his career with Accenture, he worked on numerous projects across a wide range of industries including communications, high technology, manufacturing, distribution, and others.

In addition, Mr. Hodo held advisory roles in the public sector including the Japanese government (Cabinet Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry and Ministry of Education), and was Vice Chairman/Executive Director of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives from 2017 to 2021.

He also serves as a visiting professor at Waseda University Business School, a member of the Administrative Council of University of Tokyo, and a board member of numerous companies.

Mr. Hodo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Dayle Hogg

Operating Executive

Dayle Hogg is an Operating Executive focused on the healthcare sector. He works with new and existing portfolio companies of Abingworth, part of the Carlyle Group, to support their operational capabilities.

Previously, Mr. Hogg was COO of GammaDelta Therapeutics, an Abingworth portfolio company focused on the development of γδ T cell immunotherapies, until its acquisition by Takeda in 2022, when he became Head of Gamma Delta Operations for Takeda. He was also a cofounder of Adaptate Biotherapeutics (also an Abingworth portfolio company and acquired by Takeda in 2022). Mr. Hogg’s prior roles have also included COO of Kesios Therapeutics (an oncology drug development company), investment manager at Touchstone Innovations where he led a number of early-stage investments including Enterprise Therapeutics (potentiator program acquired by Roche) and Storm Therapeutics, and he was a cofounder and Commercial VP of Lectus Therapeutics (programs acquired by UCB).

Mr. Hogg has more than 20 years of experience across a range of functions within the biotechnology sector including within operational, commercial and venture investing roles. He has a degree in Pharmacology from University of Leeds and a PhD in Pharmacology from University of Oxford.
 

Hongjiang Zhang

Senior Advisor

Dr. Hongjiang Zhang is a Senior Advisor to Carlyle. He is based in Hong Kong.

Previously, Dr. Zhang has held positions including CEO of Kingsoft, Managing Director of Microsoft Advanced Technology Center (ATC), and Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft’s China Research and Development Group (CRD).

Dr. Zhang was a founding member, then the Assistant Managing Director, of Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA). MSRA was reported in 2004 as “The Hottest Computer Lab” by MIT Technology Review. While with MSRA, he led efforts to research in Media Computing, Data Mining and Web Search, Natural Language Computing, and Distributed Systems. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Zhang was with Hewlett-Packard Labs at Palo Alto, California, where he was a research manager. He also worked at the Institute of Systems Science (today, renamed I2R), National University of Singapore.

A researcher in media computing, more specifically in video and image analysis, search and browsing, Dr. Zhang has authored four books, over 350 scientific papers, and holds 62 U.S. patents. He has been elected Fellow of IEEE and Association for Computing Machinery and won the “2008 Asian American Engineers of the Year” award. He is also the recipient of 2010 IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Awards.

Dr. Zhang earned his B.S. in Radio and Electronics from Zhengzhou University in Henan, China and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby, Denmark. 
 

Lloyd Howell

Operating Executive

Lloyd Howell is an Operating Executive focused on the aerospace and defense sector.

Mr. Howell has served as the Executive Director of the NFL Players Associate since July 2023.  From July 2016 to October 2022, Mr. Howell served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Company (“Booz Allen”), a professional services company, and Mr. Howell served as Executive Vice President of Booz Allen from October 2022 through December 2022 to assist Booz Allen with the transition to his retirement. During his more than 34 years at Booz Allen, Mr. Howell held a variety of leadership roles. From 2013 to 2016, he led Booz Allen’s Civil and Commercial Group. Prior to that, he held the position of Executive Vice President, Client Services Office from 2009 to 2013. 

Currently, Mr. Howell serves on the boards of Moody’s Corporation, General Electric Healthcare and KLDiscovery Inc. and previously served on the board of Integra LifeSciences. He is on the Board of Trustees at the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania's Engineering School, and a member of the Washington Economics Club. 

Mr. Howell has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Renee James

Operating Executive

Renee J. James is an Operating Executive focused on global telecommunications, media and technology sectors.

Ms. James is a seasoned technology leader with large-scale, broad international operations experience. She is currently the Chairman and CEO of Ampere Computing, a Carlyle portfolio company. Ampere produces high performance processors for compute, storage and other cloud computing needs. Ms. James had a lengthy career with Intel Corporation where she was the President of the company until her departure in 2016. She is a current Operating Executive at the Carlyle Group. In her role with Carlyle, Ms. James evaluates new technology investments for the firm as well as advises and portfolio companies on their strategic direction and operational efficiency.

In 2014, Ms. James was ranked 21st on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list, and she was ranked 45th on the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list.

Georgette Kiser

Operating Executive

Georgette Kiser is an Operating Executive at The Carlyle Group where she is advising across the firm and in particular, the firm’s Global Technology and Solutions (GTS) organization, by developing and driving IT strategies across the global enterprise, which includes application development, data, digital, infrastructure, cyber security, and program management and outsourcing activities.  Prior to this Ms. Kiser served as a Managing Director and the CIO (Chief Information Officer ) for The Caryle Group driving the global technical strategy and solutions.

Prior to The Carlyle Group, Ms. Kiser was the Vice President of T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. where she headed Enterprise Solutions and Capabilities within the Services and Technology Organization. She led and managed teams that provided creative solutions and leveraged technology for investment front office, trading, and back office operations. Prior to T. Rowe Price, Ms. Kiser worked for General Electric within their Aerospace Unit.

Ms. Kiser earned a B.S. in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, a M.S. in Mathematics from Villanova University, and an M.B.A from the University of Baltimore.

Ms. Kiser serves on the Boards of Aflac and Adtalem Global Education.

Ms. Kiser has also served on various non-profit boards, including the T. Rowe Price Foundation Board, the Maryland Business Roundtable STEMnet Advisory Board, The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, and the University of Baltimore Foundation. Georgette currently serves on the Board for Year Up (National Capital Region).

Yoshinori Komiya

Senior Advisor

Yoshinori Komiya is a Senior Advisor based in Tokyo. He advises the Japan Buyout advisory team on investment activities, including the identification and assessment of new investment opportunities, and also advises on value creation initiatives within Carlyle's existing portfolio.

Mr. Komiya has held a long and distinguished career in government at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (METI). During his more than the three decades at the Department, he was involved in various policy matters including intellectual property, industrial finance, energy, and space. He has held various leadership roles including Secretary to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Counsellor of the Cabinet Secretariat, and Director General of the Cabinet Office, working closely with the Prime Minister's Office. In 2016, Mr. Komiya was appointed the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office, with oversight for patent, trademark, and design policy and reform of these.

Since leaving government in 2017, he has served in executive roles at IHI Corporation.

Mr. Komiya graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo.
 

Minoru Koshibe

Senior Advisor

Minoru Koshibe joined Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals Co., Ltd. (currently Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.) in 1978. He took part in developing the Direct Oxidation MMA Production Process in partnership with KURARAY CO., LTD., where he contributed to the completion of production technologies through his involvement in the launch of pilot plants and the construction and operations of new factories.  With the establishment of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. in 1997, Mr. Koshibe assumed new positions including Corporate Planning, Executive Officer and Planning and Development Director for the Material Business Department, and Managing Executive Officer. In 2013, Mr. Koshibe was appointed Representative Director and Executive Vice President. Mr. Koshibe engaged in numerous domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, helping to expand Mitsui Chemical’s businesses especially in the fields of healthcare and agrichemicals, and adding new products such as electronic glasses.  He led the establishment of the company’s mid-term business plan and business portfolio restructuring, including new business partnerships, delistings and demergers. 

Currently, Mr. Koshibe serves as Executive Advisor for Daicel Corporation, Senior Advisor for Greenhill & Co. Japan Ltd.,Consultant for LOTTE Corporation, Specially Appointed Professor at Osaka University, and Senior Consultant for GENKEN Institute of Management Co.,Ltd. He is also actively involved in a wide variety of industries, serving as, for instance, the Director for “Kokuryoku Baizou Juku” (a General Incorporated Association), Advisor for “Furusato TV” (a NPO), Representative Facilitator for Thomson Reuters Salon, and Supporter of Monozukuri Nadeshiko.

Mr. Koshibe earned both his B.A. and M.A. from Osaka University’s School of Science.

L. William Krause

Operating Executive

L. William Krause is an Operating Executive focused on the technology and business services sectors.

Mr. Krause has been President of LWK Ventures, a private advisory and investment firm, since 1991. 

Previously, Mr. Krause served as President and Chief Executive Officer of 3Com Corporation from February 1981 to September 1990 and Chairman of the Board from September 1987 to September 1993 when he retired.  Under his leadership 3Com grew from a venture capital funded start-up to a $1B+ publicly traded, data networking company with operations worldwide.  Also, Mr. Krause was employed at Hewlett-Packard Company for 14 years from 1967 to 1981 in various marketing and general management assignments. His last position at HP was as general manager of the personal computer division.

Mr. Krause currently serves as a director of the following public companies: Coherent, Inc. and CommScope, Inc..  He is also Chairman of the Board of Veritas Holdings, Ltd., a Carlyle portfolio company.  In addition, Mr. Krause serves as a Board Partner with Andreessen Horowitz, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. 

Mr. Krause holds a B.S.E.E. degree and received an honorary doctorate of science from The Citadel. 

Bruce Larson

Senior Advisor

Mr. Larson is a Senior Advisor. He was formerly the Chief Human Resources Officer at Carlyle and served in that capacity since he joined the firm in November 2019.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Larson served as Partner and Head of Human Capital in Asia Pacific and India at Goldman Sachs.

Mr. Larson earned an MBA from University of Chicago and a BA in Finance and Japanese from the University of Utah.

Dr. Martin Madaus

Operating Executive

Dr. Martin Madaus is an Operating Executive focused on the healthcare industry.

Dr. Madaus most recently served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (a Carlyle portfolio company) from 2014 to 2019 and as a consultant to Carlyle in the healthcare sector from 2011 to 2014. Previously, he was President, Chairman and CEO of Millipore Corporation, which was acquired by Merck KGaA, from 2005 to 2010 and CEO of Roche Diagnostics North America from 1999 to 2004.

Dr. Madaus is the current Lead Director of Quanterix and serves on the board of Syneron Candela. Previously, he served on the boards of Pharmaceutical Product Development (a Carlyle portfolio company), Mettler Toledo and Covidien. He earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Munich, Germany and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the Veterinary University of Hannover, Germany.

Federico Marchetti

Operating Executive

Federico Marchetti is an Operating Executive to the Carlyle Europe Partners team.  He is focused on the consumer business, with a broad experience in luxury, technology and sustainability.  He is based in Milan.

Mr. Marchetti founded YOOX in 2000.   In 2015, Marchetti drove the game-changing merger of YOOX and NET-A-PORTER to create the world leader in online luxury fashion.  Mr. Marchetti, defined by the New York Times as “the man who put fashion on the net”1, has revolutionized the luxury industry.  Over the last 20 years, he has continued to push the boundaries of innovation, transforming the luxury shopping experience through artificial intelligence, visual recognition and big data.

Mr. Marchetti has forged important strategic alliances worldwide, including a joint venture with the French luxury group Kering in 2012, with Mohamed Alabbar, a visionary entrepreneur in the Gulf, in 2016, and with Alibaba in China in 2018, following YOOX NET-A-PORTER’s acquisition for over 6 billion U.S. dollars by Richemont.

Mr. Marchetti serves as non-executive director of Giorgio Armani and as independent director of Gruppo GEDI.  Invited by Prince of Wales, he also serves as Chair of HRH’s Sustainable Markets Initiative Task Force on Fashion.  Mr. Marchetti has also held positions on the Board of Trustees of The Prince’s Foundation and on the Board of Directors of Highgrove Gardens.  Mr. Marchetti has been knighted as a Cavaliere by the President of the Italian Republic.

Mr. Marchetti holds a business degree from Bocconi University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.

Michael Martin

Operating Executive

Michael Martin is an Operating Executive focused on the Financial Services sector. He is based in New York.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Martin was a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus LLC from 2009 to 2024. At Warburg, Mr. Martin was the Head of Financial Services and a member of the Executive Management Group. Alejandro Martinez Péon

Alejandro Martinez Peόn is an Operating Executive focused on the technology sector and digital transformation opportunities in Europe. 

Over the last three decades, Mr. Martínez Peón has held leadership positions within the telecom and media markets in Spain and Latin America, demonstrating a wide background in business development, marketing & sales, operations, strategy, and corporate finance. Previously, Mr. Martínez Peón joined PRISA in 2018 as Chief Executive Officer of Prisa Noticias, the Group business line which includes the press outlets El País, Diario As, and Cinco Días. During his time at PRISA, the company accelerated its digital transformation pivoting from an old press business model to a successful digital subscription model in El País, as well as fostering digital audience and advertising in Diario As across Spanish speaking markets. He was also a Board Member of Santillana Education Group, the leading ed-tech company in Spain and LatAm in K-12 segment. 

Previously, Mr. Martínez Peón joined Telecable in 2009 as Chief Executive Officer where he helped accelerate the growth profile of the Telecable business during a period of economic distress, reflecting value creation through three successive sale processes: to The Carlyle Group in 2011 (EV €380m), to Zegona Communications in 2015 (EV €640m) and to Euskaltel in 2017 (EV €701m).
Prior to Telecable, Mr. Martínez Peón worked for Telefónica from 2000 to 2009 carrying out several managerial roles both in subsidiary operators and in Telefónica Corporation. He started his career working for five years at Arthur Andersen in the auditing practice of the Telecom & Energy sector. 

Mr. Martínez Peón has a degree in Business Administration from Oviedo University. He also attended the Stanford Executive Program (SEP) in the Stanford University Graduate School of Business (2017) and a Finance Course in the London School of Economics (1994).
 

Edward J. Mathias

Senior Advisor

Edward J. Mathias is a Senior Advisor with The Carlyle Group.

Prior to joining Carlyle in January 1994, Mr. Mathias was a long-time member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors at T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., a major investment management organization. He was instrumental in the founding of The Carlyle Group and assisted in raising the firm's initial capital. Mr. Mathias serves as an advisor to senior management and is a member of the Investment Committees for Carlyle Growth, Asia Growth, European Technology, and Sub-Saharan Africa Funds. Additionally, he is actively involved with Carlyle's broad-based investment strategy and serves in an advisory role for the firm's Global Credit Funds. 

Mr. Mathias holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he currently serves as a Trustee Emeritus. He is a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, The Council on Foreign Relations, and The Trustees' Council at The National Gallery of Art. 

Alan Middleton

Operating Executive

Alan Middleton is an Operating Executive focused on the technology and business services sectors. He is based in London. 

Currently, Mr. Middleton  is a non-executive director of PA Consulting Group and the Carlyle portfolio company Anthesis.

A career-consultant, Mr. Middleton’s client focus is on the business services and financial services sectors, specializing in innovation and strategy delivery.  Over his career, he has consulted for 400 client organizations and operated in every major geography.  He served for fifteen years as Chief Executive Officer and Board member of PA Consulting, leading the firm through Carlyle’s investment in 2016 until the successful exit to Jacobs Engineering in 2021.  

Mr. Middleton studied at Edinburgh University and Stanford and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Donna Morea

Operating Executive

Donna S. Morea is an Operating Executive focused on technology and business services. 

Ms. Morea is the retired President of CGI Technologies and Solutions, where she led CGI’s multi-billion dollar IT and business process services in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific.  Her clients included many of the world’s largest and most complex organizations in federal, state and local government; healthcare; and financial services.  Prior to that, she served in numerous executive management roles at American Management Systems, which merged with CGI in 2004.

Ms. Morea received a BA with high honors from Wesleyan University and an MBA with distinction from Wharton. 

She currently serves on the boards of Net Health, Accelerate Learning and as Chair of KLDiscovery (all Carlyle portfolio companies.)  She is the Chair of the Board of Directors of SAIC (NYSE:SAIC), and is the Chair of the Technology Committee of the Truist Board of Directors (NYSE:TFC).

In addition to her business activities, she is Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wesleyan University, her alma mater; Director of Share our Strength, a national organization fighting childhood hunger in the US; and a Trustee of the Inova Health System, the largest healthcare system in Northern Virginia. She is a Chair Emerita of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the nation's largest technology council with over 1000 member companies, representing over 300,000 employees in the region.  

Yasuo Nishiguchi

Yasuo Nishiguchi is a Senior Advisor focused on Japanese buyout opportunities. He is based in Tokyo.

Mr. Nishiguchi was the former President and CEO of Kyocera Corporation, one of Japan’s leading companies in system electronic devices, telecom equipment and applied ceramic products. He was involved in technology development and new business creation.

Mary Petrovich

Mary Petrovich is an Operating Executive focused on U.S. buyout opportunities in the automotive and transportation sectors. Ms. Petrovich is based in Michigan.

Previously, Ms. Petrovich was Chief Executive Officer of Carlyle portfolio company AxleTech International, culminating in the December 2008 sale of AxleTech to General Dynamics, where she continued to lead the business for two years. Prior to her decade with AxleTech, Ms. Petrovich served as President of Dura Automotive’s global $1 billion Driver Controls unit. Before Dura, she held roles of increasing responsibility with AlliedSignal, leading several automotive and industrial businesses. Early in her career Ms. Petrovich served in a variety of engineering, manufacturing and finance roles with Chrysler and General Motors.

Ms. Petrovich received her MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSE in industrial and operations engineering from University of Michigan.

Adrien Pinsard

Adrien Pinsard is an Operating Executive focused on Carlyle’s investments in renewable and sustainable energy, with a specific focus on the European market. He is based in London. 

Mr. Pinsard brings 15 years of European renewable energy investment and development experience along with a deep network of relationships with developers, investors, banks and advisors. Most recently, Mr. Pinsard served as the CEO (interim) of Lumani Energy. Mr. Pinsard founded Lumani in 2020 to incubate and grow European renewable energy developers, together with a large infrastructure investor. He has since moved to the infrastructure investor’s development platform in a C-suite role and currently leads deal origination, capital allocation, strategy, acquisitions, divestitures and financing for an 8 GW pipeline across France, Spain, Italy, UK, Poland and Greece. 

Prior to forming Lumani Energy, Mr. Pinsard was leading the energy team of Platina, a UK private equity firm focused on the European renewable energy sector. 

Mr. Pinsard received an M.S. Applied Physics from INSA Lyon and an M.S. Corporate Finance from EM Lyon.

Lawrence B. Prior, III

Operating Executive

Larry Prior is an Operating Executive for The Carlyle Group focused on the aerospace, defense and government services sectors. He is based in Washington, DC and serves on the Board of Directors of Novetta.

Mr. Prior was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer of CSRA, Inc., which was acquired by General Dynamics. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of CSC’s North American Public Sector (NPS) business, providing next-generation technology solutions and mission services to the U.S. Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and FedCiv sectors. 

Before joining CSC, Mr. Prior held executive leadership positions at BAE Systems Inc., ManTech International, SAIC, LightPointe Communications, High Technology Solutions, the County of San Diego and TRW. Earlier in his career, Mr. Prior worked as a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and served as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Prior earned his BS degree from Loyola Marymount University and an MA in security studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Jim Prutow

Jim Prutow is an Operating Executive focused on the healthcare sector.

Mr. Prutow has over 30 years of healthcare experience as both an executive and consultant across many medtech, life sciences, and diagnostics companies. Mr. Prutow most recently served as a Senior Healthcare PE Partner at PwC and PRTM for the past 15 years, where he collaborated with Carlyle and other private equity sponsors on hundreds of diligences across the globe as well as supported portfolio company management teams on value creation initiatives that have yielded billions in incremental value.

Before PwC, Mr. Prutow spent time as an executive at a range of leading healthcare companies including Baxter, Dade Behring, Nanogen and GeneLogic.

Aditya Puri

Mr. Aditya Puri is a Senior Advisor to the Asia private equity team. Mr. Puri was the CEO and Managing Director of HDFC Bank from its inception in 1994 until October 2020. Over his 26 tenure leading the business, Mr. Puri grew HDFC Bank into the largest private sector bank in India with over $210 billion of assets (as of September 30, 2020), and the most valuable bank in India with a market cap of over $90 billion (as of October 2020). 

Mr. Puri won several awards and accolades during his tenure, including being named among Barron’s Top 30 Global CEOs from 2015 to 2018 and Fortune’s Top 20 Businesspersons globally in 2017. He was also named Banker of the Year by Business Standard, and most recently, received Euromoney’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Prior to HDFC Bank, Mr. Puri spent over 20 years at Citibank overseeing parts of the bank’s activities across India, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and mainland China, with his last role as CEO of Citibank’s operations in Malaysia from 1992-1994.

Mr. Puri is a commerce graduate from Punjab University and a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Thomas W. Rabaut

Thomas W. Rabaut is an Operating Executive focused on U.S. buyout opportunities. He is based in Washington, DC.

Since his involvement with Carlyle starting in 2007, Mr. Rabaut has served as Chairman of Carlyle portfolio companies ARINC, Veyance, Signode and Synagro, and on the boards of Carlyle portfolio companies Novetta, Allison Transmission, Qualicaps, Landmark Aviation and Illinois Central School Bus LLC.

Previously, Mr. Rabaut served as President and Chief Executive Officer of one of Carlyle’s most successful investments—the 1997 acquisition of United Defense. During his tenure in this position, he led the evolution of the company from a limited partnership through the formation of a stand-alone private enterprise to an NYSE publicly traded company and the ultimate sale to BAE Systems in June 2005.

After the sale, he served as President of BAE’s Land and Armaments Operating Group, where he oversaw 11,000 employees in 13 locations and was responsible for $3.7 billion in sales.

Prior to his tenure at United Defense, he served 17 years in various roles at FMC Corporation, where he ultimately became Vice President and General Manager of FMC’s Defense Systems Group.

Mr. Rabaut earned his BS at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served five years in the U.S. Army. He received an MBA from Harvard University.

Ian Read

Ian Read is an Operating Executive focused on the healthcare sector.

Mr. Read began his career at Pfizer in 1978 and was named CEO in 2010 and Chairman of the Pfizer Board of Directors in 2011. During Mr. Read’s tenure as CEO, Pfizer generated a total shareholder return of 250%, achieved 32 FDA approvals for new medicines, invested significantly in research and development, and completed several transformational transactions to help strengthen Pfizer’s pipeline. Previously, Mr. Read served as Senior Vice President and Group President of Pfizer’s Worldwide Biopharmaceutical Businesses, overseeing five global business units: Primary Care, Specialty Care, Oncology, Established Products and Emerging Markets. Charles O. Rossotti

Senior Advisor

Charles O. Rossotti is a Senior Advisor focused primarily on investments in the fields of information technology and business services. He is based in Washington, DC.

Previously, Mr. Rossotti served from 1997 to 2002 as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, the federal agency that serves 175 million taxpayers and employs 100,000 people. As a result of his leadership, the public’s rating of the IRS increased greatly and relationships of trust with Congress, tax professionals and business groups were restored, and the agency’s effectiveness turned around. In 1970, Mr. Rossotti co-founded American Management Systems, Inc. and until 1997 served at various times as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. AMS grew through his tenure, becoming a major international business systems consulting and systems integration firm with revenues of more than $1 billion. AMS clients include Fortune 500 companies and federal, state and local government agencies in North America and Europe. In 1979, AMS was one of the first technology services firms to go public.

Mr. Rossotti is on the Boards of Directors of Coalfire, ECi Software, LDiscovery and Novetta (all Carlyle portfolio companies), and Booz Allen Hamilton and Quorum Management Solutions (both former Carlyle portfolio companies). In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of AES Corporation, a publicly-owned global electric power company.

In addition to his business activities, Mr. Rossotti serves on the Boards of Capital Partners for Education and the Comptroller General’s Advisory Committee of the Government Accountability Office (GAO). In 2005, he served as a member of President Bush’s advisory panel on reform of the income tax.

Mr. Rossotti is the author of “Many Unhappy Returns” (Harvard Business School Press 2005), a book about his experience turning around the IRS.

Mr. Rossotti earned his A.B. in economics, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and his M.B.A., with high distinction, from Harvard Business School. In 1970, he received the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal from the Department of Defense. In 2002, he received the Alexander Hamilton Medal from the Department of Treasury. Eriko Sakurai

Eriko Sakurai is a Senior Advisor to the Japan Buyout advisory team, focused on opportunities primarily in the general industries sector as well as advising Carlyle portfolio companies on value creation initiatives. She is based in Tokyo.

Ms. Sakurai has held various leadership roles in her 35-year career at Dow including most recently as President of Dow Japan and Korea from 2020-2022. She also previously served as Regional President of Japan and Korea of Dow Corning and Chairman and CEO of Dow Corning Toray. In addition to her roles at Dow, she served on the board of Sony Group Corporation from 2014 to 2020, and currently sits on the boards of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Kao Corporation, Astellas Pharma, and Nippon Sheet Glass.

Ms. Sakurai earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and a PhD in Information Sciences from Tohoku University in Japan.

Genevieve Sangudi

Genevieve Sangudi is an Operating Executive advising on buyout and growth opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is based in Johannesburg.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Sangudi was a Partner and Managing Director with Emerging Capital Partners, where she established and managed the firm’s Nigeria operations and played a lead role in deal sourcing, execution and value creation, particularly for companies in the financial services, oil and gas and petrochemicals sectors. Ms. Sangudi also has significant experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, having started her career at Procter & Gamble, where she worked on market strategies for numerous global brands.

Henrik Slipsager

Henrik Slipsager is an Operating Executive focused on opportunities in the industrial and transportation sectors. Mr. Slipsager was most recently the President and CEO of ABM Industries from 2000 to 2015.  During his tenure as CEO, ABM’s revenues more than doubled from $1.8 billion to more than $5 billion. Under his leadership, the business transformed into an integrated facilities solutions provider both organically and through acquisitions. Prior to joining ABM Industries, Mr. Slipsager was President of 2M-Invest and held roles of increasing responsibility at ISS.

Arleen Spangler

Arleen Spangler is a Senior Advisor focused on the Global Credit sector. She is based in New York.

Previously, Ms. Spangler served as a Principal in the Carlyle Energy Mezzanine Opportunities fund. Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Spangler was a Director at NRG Energy, Inc. responsible for managing the enterprise-wide credit function. Before NRG, Ms. Spangler was a member of Morgan Stanley's Credit Advisory group, focusing on providing credit advisory and services to energy clients. Ms. Spangler also spent many years in Standard & Poor's Infrastructure and Energy groups, covering utilities and project finance transactions.

She holds a BA in economics from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and an MBA in finance from New York University. 

Paddy Spink

Senior Advisor

Mr. Spink has over 40 years of experience in upstream exploration, business development and operations management in every region of the world. Prior to joining Carlyle International Energy Partners, Mr. Spink spent 23 years with Perenco, joining the company in 1987 shortly before the start of its rapid growth into one of the world’s largest private upstream oil and gas companies. During his career with Perenco, Mr. Spink performed a number of roles including head of exploration, general manager of one of Perenco’s largest subsidiaries, and executive board member (before the company was taken private). During his last 15 years with the company, Mr Spink was head of business development, which coincided with the company’s most rapid period of growth. Particular focus was given to the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

Before joining Perenco, Mr Spink held positions in exploration and operations departments of a number of E&P companies. After leaving Perenco, Mr. Spink founded a consulting business providing upstream investment advice to a number of clients. In addition to his executive roles, Mr Spink was a non-executive director of Ophir Energy until August 2012, and is currently on the board of Discover Exploration. Mr. Spink graduated in 1973 from the University of Lancaster with an Environmental Sciences degree.

David L. Squier

Operating Executive

David L. Squier is an Operating Executive focused on the aerospace, defense & government services sectors.

He serves as a consultant and board member for several Carlyle portfolio companies, including Dynamic Precision Group, Inc. Forgital Group, Sequa Corporation and StandardAero.

Mr. Squier was formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of Howmet Corporation, a post he held from April 1992 to October 2000. He was associated with Howmet in a number of senior management assignments for more than 20 years. As Chief Executive Officer, he was responsible for the operations of an organization with more than $1 billion in annual sales and 29 manufacturing facilities in five countries. Mr. Squier first joined Howmet in 1971. He served as Plant Manager at the company’s Casting units in Hampton, Virginia and Wichita Falls, Texas, before being named Vice President in charge of Howmet’s refurbishment activities in 1983. He was named Vice President of Product Support Operations in 1984, Senior Vice President of the Product Support Group in 1985, Executive Vice President in 1988 and Chief Operating Officer in 1991. Mr. Squier was a member of the Howmet Board of Directors from 1987 until his retirement in October 2000.

Mr. Squier holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Wilko Stark

Operating Executive

Wilko Stark is an Operating Executive to the Carlyle Europe Partners team. He is focused on supporting initiatives in renewable energy and automotive (e-mobility). He is based in Germany.
 
Mr. Stark is on the supervisory board of Flender and Schaltbau Holding AG on behalf of Carlyle. He is also a supervisory and advisory board member for ZKW (LG electronics), Kromberg & Schubert GmbH CO KG (privately owned) and Altech Advanced Materials AG. Mr. Stark has been a member of the Divisional Board of Management Mercedes-Benz Cars, Purchasing and Supplier Quality from October 2018 until April 2019 where he was responsible for purchasing of production material and the purchased parts quality of the Mercedes Benz Cars and Vans suppliers worldwide. Previously, he headed the Daimler Corporate Strategy and the Strategy and Product Planning of Mercedes-Benz Cars since 2013 and has been additionally responsible for the CASE Division within Mercedes-Benz Cars since May 2017. At this point, he was responsible for the implementation of activities related to Connectivity, Autonomous Driving, Shared & Services and E-Mobility activities at Mercedes-Benz Cars. He started his professional career at the Boston Consulting Group in 1998. In 2007 he moved to Volkswagen AG where he was Head of Product Strategy VW Group and VW Passenger Cars, as well as Head of Products of Seat S.A. In 2012, Mr. Stark joined Daimler AG as responsible for Products & Modules Daimler Trucks. 

Mr. Stark studied mechanical engineering (Dipl.–Ing.) at the University of Stuttgart.

Peter Stoll

Peter Stoll is currently a Senior Advisor to the European Real Estate Business. From 2015 until 2023, Peter was a Managing Director and Head of Carlyle's European Real Estate Business, and from 2021 he served as Co-Head of CER Funds I and II. He is based in London.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 2015, Mr. Stoll was a Senior Managing Director at The Blackstone Group Inc. (”Blackstone”) where he spent 12 years building Blackstone’s European real estate business with a focus on acquisitions, dispositions, asset and portfolio management and also serving as Chief Operating Officer. 

Prior to Blackstone, Mr. Stoll worked at several leading investment platforms in Europe, including Carlyle, Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund and LaSalle Investment Management. 

Mr. Stoll has a B.A. from Dartmouth College and attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Shiho Takano

Shiho Takano started her career as a Marketing Specialist and Manager in Meiji Co., Ltd., Yves Saint Laurent Parfum Co., Ltd, Coca-Cola (Japan) Company, Limited, and Boots MC. She has extensive experience of strategic planning and new business development. From 2004, she was the President of L’Occitane Japon, where she made the largest sales and profits among the global branches of L’Occitane International S.A. and contributed to its listing in the Hong Kong market. Concurrently she served as the President of Melvita JAPON K.K. and Le Convent Des Minimes Japon Co., Ltd.

She is currently the President of her company, Etoile Ltd. She is also a board member of Fujita Kanko Inc., KANAMEL Inc. (formerly AOI TYO Holdings Inc.), UNITED ARROWS LTD. and the Japan Basketball Association. In the past, she was a board member of Morinaga & Co., Ltd.(from 2018 to June, 2022).

Macky Tall

Senior Advisor

Macky Tall is a Senior Advisor. He was previously a Partner and Chair of Carlyle’s Global Infrastructure Group, which included efforts across transportation, renewables, energy, power, water and digital infrastructure. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Tall served in a series of leadership positions at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), one of the world’s largest infrastructure investors and the second largest pension fund in Canada. He also served on CDPQ’s Executive Committee and Investment-Risk Committee, served as founding Chair and CEO of CDPQ Infra, CDPQ’s subsidiary specializing in major infrastructure projects, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ivanhoé Cambridge, CDPQ’s real estate subsidiary. Before joining CDPQ, he held several senior management positions with companies in the energy and finance sectors, namely Hydro-Québec, MEG International, Novergaz and Probyn & Company. 

Mr. Tall also sits on the Board of Directors of WSP Global Inc., The National Bank of Canada, and the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund Investments Committee. He is a member of Telfer School of Management Strategic Leadership Cabinet. In addition, he has served as co-chair of the Advisory Committee of the Global Infrastructure Facility of the World Bank. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from HEC Montréal and an MBA (Finance) and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa. He also completed an undergraduate degree in Economics  at Université de Montréal, and he has been inducted as Distinguished Alumni by HEC Montreal.

Anshul Thakral

Operating Executive

Anshul Thakral is an Operating Executive focused on the healthcare sector. 

Mr. Thakral has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries as a general manager, management consultant, commercial leader and entrepreneur. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President of Peri- and Post-Approval Services at PPD. He started his career at PPD as Global Head of PPD Biotech, and under his leadership, PPD became a market leader for CRO services in the Biotech segment.  

Before PPD, Mr. Thakral ran the global life sciences business unit at Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), where he created a customer business model to serve the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Prior to GLG, he worked at McKinsey & Company, where he was an associate principal in the healthcare practice, counseling senior management and CEOs of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Mr. Thakral currently serves on the Board of Directors of Carlyle portfolio companies TriNetX and Saama Technologies.

Mr. Thakral earned his B.S and M.S.E in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Gijs van Engelen

Senior Advisor

Gijs van Engelen is a Senior Advisor to the Carlyle Europe Partners team focused on developing omnichannel and digitalization strategies within the portfolio. 

In recent years, Mr. van Engelen supported the CEP team through board directorships at portfolio companies such as Golden Goose and Codorniu, and advised on M&A transactions. 

In addition to his Carlyle advisory role, Mr. van Engelen is Chief Digital Officer and a member of the Executive Board of Hunkemöller International bv. Having joined Hunkemöller in 2013 as Global Omni-Channel Director, Mr. van Engelen is part of the leadership team that has transformed Hunkemöller from a high street retailer into a globally-recognized and best-in-class omnichannel retailer.

He holds a BA in e-commerce and previously held several senior e-commerce positions at Dell Emea.

Ed Vilandrie

Operating Executive

Ed Vilandrie is an Operating Executive for Carlyle’s Infrastructure Group. He is based in New York.

Vilandrie most recently served as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Altman Vilandrie & Company (now Altman Solon following a July 2020 merger with European partner Solon Management Consulting), which has been widely known as one of the leading telecommunications, media, and technology-focused strategy consulting firms globally. Vilandrie has advised many c-suite and senior TMT executives and investors within the digital infrastructure industry from a strategic, go-to-market, M&A, and business model perspective. Prior to Altman Vilandrie, he served as vice president at Cambridge Strategic Management Group.

Vilandrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics-Economics from Brown University and currently serves on several external boards including Wyyerd, Fusion Connect and Involta Data Centers.

Claudius (Bud) E. Watts IV

Senior Advisor

Claudius E. Watts IV (“Bud”) is a Senior Advisor focused on software, software enabled services, semiconductors and electronic systems. Mr. Watts established the firm’s Technology Buyout Group in 2004 and led it until 2014.

Mr. Watts led Carlyle’s investments in technology companies CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM), SS&C Technologies (NASDAQ: SSNC), Open Link Financial, Open Solutions, Jazz Semiconductor, and Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL), as well as aerospace companies Firth Rixson, Sippican, and CPU Technology.

Prior to joining Carlyle in 2000, Mr. Watts was a Managing Director in the M&A group of First Union Securities, Inc. He joined First Union Securities when First Union acquired Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co., where Mr. Watts was a principal and advised Carlyle on several transactions. Prior to joining Bowles Hollowell, Mr. Watts was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. During his service, he was qualified as an instructor pilot in both the F-16 and A-10 aircraft and served in a number of leadership and operations management positions in the United States and abroad.

Mr. Watts earned a B.S. in electrical engineering cum laude from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Mr. Watts currently serves as the Independent Lead Director on the Board of CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM) and as Chairman of the Board of Carolina Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CARO).

In addition to his business activities, Mr. Watts serves as the Chairman of the Board of both The Citadel Foundation and The Citadel Trust and serves on the boards of the Roper St. Francis Foundation and Belle W. Baruch Foundation. 

Dr. Stefan Weingartner

Operating Executive

Dr. Stefan Weingartner is an Operating Executive focused on the aerospace, defense and government services sectors.

He serves at the Boards of Forgital Group, Italy; Sequa Corporation, Florida and StandardAero, Arizona.

Throughout his career Mr. Weingartner has transformed aircraft engine and systems businesses into high-performance market leaders. Prior to his appointment to the Sequa Board of Directors in 2015, Weingartner was President of MTU Maintenance, a leadership role he held for eight years. He was instrumental in leading the organization to profitable growth, in addition to other significant business and technical achievements. During this time he also was a member of the Executive Board of MTU Aero Engines AG, an MDAX-listed (MTX) company.

Weingartner held the role of Senior Vice President, Defense Programs, at MTU Aero Engines GmbH. Prior to that, he served as Managing Director for MTU Turbomeca Rolls-Royce GmbH. Weingartner previously was President and Managing Director at EADS Japan Co. Ltd. (now Airbus Group), and held leadership roles with other aerospace companies, including Daimler Chrysler Aerospace in Japan.

Weingartner holds a master’s degree in physics from Munich Technical University, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, and a Doctorate in Engineering from the Munich Technical University. He is a past Board member of the German Aerospace Industries Association and American Chamber of Commerce in Germany.

Dr. Daniel Yergin

Senior Advisor

Dr. Daniel Yergin is a Senior Advisor advising Carlyle on a range of issues including geopolitical developments, economic conditions and trends in the global energy sector.

Dr. Yergin is Vice Chairman of IHS, one of the world’s largest research and information companies, with 9000 employees, and founder of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, which became part of IHS in 2004. He is a director of the Council on Foreign Relations and a trustee of the Brookings Institution. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council and a director of the United States Energy Association and the New America Foundation. He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative and the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy and on Singapore’s International Energy Advisory Panel.

Dr. Yergin is the author of several bestsellers: The Prize: the Epic Quest for Oil Money and Power, which won the Pulitzer Prize; The Quest: Energy, Security, and the Remaking of the Modern World; and Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy.

Dr. Yergin earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his Ph.D. from Cambridge University, where he was a Marshall Scholar. 

Luca Zacchetti

Operating Executive

Luca Zacchetti is an Operating Executive to the Carlyle Europe Partners team. He is focused on the aerospace and defence, oil & gas and industrial, and automotive sectors. Mr. Zacchetti has broad experience with B2B businesses with complex technology and supply chains. He is based in Milan.

Previously, Mr. Zacchetti was CEO at Tecnoforge Group, a Carlyle portfolio company and a worldwide leading maufacturer of components for the oil & gas industry; at Avio, a former Carlyle portfolio company and worldwide leading engineer and manufacturer of critical components for aero engines; at Rhiag Group, a pan-European leading distributor of automotive aftermarket parts; and at Forgital Group, a Carlyle portfolio company and worldwide leading component manufacturer for aero engines and industrial applications. Mr. Zacchetti serves as Chairman of Forgital Group and FarmFront Group. He also served as non-executive director of several other B2B businesses. Mr. Zacchetti holds a business administration degree from the University of Pavia with a dissertation on the application of econometric models in the economic theory of Franco Modigliani.

David Zwiener

Operating Executive

David Zwiener is an Operating Executive focused on the global financial services sector. He is based in New York.

Previously, Mr. Zwiener was interim Chief Executive Officer at PartnerRe since 2015 and a member of the company’s board since 2010. Prior to his role as interim Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Zwiener was a Principal at Dowling Capital Partners. He previously served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Wachovia Corporation. From 2007 to 2008, he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of Carlyle’s Financial Institutions Group. He also served as President of Property Casualty Operations, as well as Chief Financial Officer at The Hartford Financial Services Group.

Mr. Zwiener is currently a member of the Board of VOYA Financial and Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of former Carlyle portfolio company Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Ltd.

Mr. Zwiener earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
