Gemini Air Cargo Names Sam Woodward Chairman, President and CEO

Dulles, VA – Gemini Air Cargo, Inc., a worldwide all-cargo airline headquartered in Dulles, VA, today announced that Sam A. Woodward has been named Chairman, President, and CEO. Mr. Woodward, who succeeds Tom Corcoran, brings more than 25 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industries to the position. Mr. Woodward begins his new duties immediately. Mr. Corcoran will serve on the Gemini Board of Directors and as a Senior Advisor to The Carlyle Group, which purchased Gemini in August 1999.

Prior to joining Gemini, Mr. Woodward formed his own company in 2000, SAW Investment Services, which provided investment and management services for logistics, and logistics based technology companies. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Woodward served in senior executive positions at Yellow Corp, a Fortune 500 provider of transportation services and solutions. During his tenure, Yellow Corp’s EBITDA grew from $45 million to $210 million, share price rose from $9 to $25, and debt was reduced by $200 million.


From 1991 to 1995 Mr. Woodward was a Managing Director of SH&E, a Reed Elseiver Ltd Co business unit, where he served as lead officer for numerous clients, including several airlines. From 1987 to 1991, Mr. Woodward was a Managing Director at Taggart Group, a transportation company, where he managed company investments, including Pilot Freight Carrier. Prior to Taggart, Mr. Woodward was Vice President at Purolator Courier Corp from 1984 to 1987 and Director of Brand Management at Pan American World Airways from 1980 to 1984.


Mr. Woodward, 55, has served as a Board of Directors member for a number of companies, including Hawaiian Air Lines, Air South, and manufacturing companies SCF and Labconco.
