The Carlyle Group Appoints Andrew Burgess as Managing Director in London

London, England – Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group today announces the appointment of Andrew Burgess as Managing Director in the London office.


Andrew Burgess joins the European buyout team, which manages two funds, Carlyle Europe Partners I, which is fully invested, and Carlyle Europe Partners II, a €1.8 billion fund which closed in March 2005. The European buyout team has completed 25 investments, five of them from the UK including Firth Rixson, QinetiQ, AZ Electronic Materials, Petroplus and the recently announced acquisition of Britax Childcare.

Mr. Burgess joins from Bridgepoint, the pan-European private equity fund manager where he was a Director of the buyout group based in London for 11 years. Mr Burgess was responsible for deal origination, execution, portfolio management and realisations. Whilst at Bridgepoint, Mr Burgess was a director of a number of companies including Birmingham Airport, IMO Car Wash and First Credit.


Prior to joining Bridgepoint in 1994, Mr Burgess worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers where he specialised in Corporate Recovery, working with companies in financial difficulty or facing complex business problems.


Mr Burgess received a B.Sc.(Hons) in Accountancy with Law and Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
