Waltham, MA - Adesso Systems, a leading provider of enterprise mobile application solutions, today announced it has secured $8 million in funding. Carlyle Venture Partners led this investment round, with participation from Adesso’s existing investors. Brian Hayhurst and Charles Rossotti of The Carlyle Group join the Adesso Board of Directors. Adesso plans expansion of marketing, sales and business development activities with the new funding.

"Our success in the enterprise, government and small business markets has attracted an influential investor in The Carlyle Group,” said Dennis Kelly, President and CEO of Adesso Systems. “The market for software to make mobile workers more productive is developing very quickly and represents a significant growth opportunity for Adesso. This latest round of funding provides us with the capital needed to expand our organization to take advantage of the broad-based demand that we are seeing for our software and hosted solutions in applications such as field service management, sales force automation, asset management and field engineering."

"Advances in mobile processing power, battery life, wireless networks and robust operating systems are converging at a time where organizations are looking for ways to cut costs and increase worker productivity, " said John Landry, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer at Adesso Systems. "Carlyle, as one of the world’s largest and most successful private equity firms, is an ideal partner to help us expand our reach in the enterprise and government sectors."

“Adesso is well positioned to take advantage of the rapid growth in mobile application adoption by enterprise field workforces” said Brian Hayhurst, Managing Director of Carlyle. “Adesso’s powerful and highly differentiated technology, which can be delivered on a licensed or hosted basis, enables Adesso to effectively service a broad range of customers.”

“In my experience first as Co-Founder and CEO of American Management Systems, then as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, I saw firsthand the challenges of building effective systems to manage distributed workers and processes,” said Carlyle Senior Advisor Charles Rossotti. “Adesso has demonstrated an ability to attract world class management talent and build an impressive customer list by delivering powerful, secure solutions to streamline the flow of information to and from the field.”

Since the release of the Adesso Platform TM in September, 2003, Adesso has quickly become the leading enterprise mobile application solution provider, with many successful implementations across a wide range of industries including government, financial services, medical, manufacturing, engineering, and high technology. Adesso’s customers range from large organizations like Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Xerox (XRX), and BDF Beiersdorf, to small businesses and government organizations, such as Terraine, Inc. and Marion County of Florida.

Adesso Systems has also recently joined the Microsoft Mobility Partner Advisory Council (MPAC), a unique, world-wide program developed by Microsoft to bring together people and resources that will assist them in creating new mobile applications, services and technologies for the future.

“The companies invited to join the MPAC program are making significant investments in mobility,” said Julie Wymetalek, manager of the MPAC program at Microsoft Corp. “Joining MPAC further underscores Adesso Systems’ commitment to helping assist businesses with mobile applications.”
