Federico Marchetti

Federico Marchetti is an Operating Executive to the Carlyle Europe Partners team.  He is focused on the consumer business, with a broad experience in luxury, technology and sustainability.  He is based in Milan.

Mr. Marchetti founded YOOX in 2000.   In 2015, Marchetti drove the game-changing merger of YOOX and NET-A-PORTER to create the world leader in online luxury fashion.  Mr. Marchetti, defined by the New York Times as “the man who put fashion on the net”1, has revolutionized the luxury industry.  Over the last 20 years, he has continued to push the boundaries of innovation, transforming the luxury shopping experience through artificial intelligence, visual recognition and big data.

Mr. Marchetti has forged important strategic alliances worldwide, including a joint venture with the French luxury group Kering in 2012, with Mohamed Alabbar, a visionary entrepreneur in the Gulf, in 2016, and with Alibaba in China in 2018, following YOOX NET-A-PORTER’s acquisition for over 6 billion U.S. dollars by Richemont.

Mr. Marchetti serves as non-executive director of Giorgio Armani and as independent director of Gruppo GEDI.  Invited by Prince of Wales, he also serves as Chair of HRH’s Sustainable Markets Initiative Task Force on Fashion.  Mr. Marchetti has also held positions on the Board of Trustees of The Prince’s Foundation and on the Board of Directors of Highgrove Gardens.  Mr. Marchetti has been knighted as a Cavaliere by the President of the Italian Republic.

Mr. Marchetti holds a business degree from Bocconi University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.
