The Carlyle Group Names Simon Dingemans as Managing Director

Investment banking and healthcare veteran will lead Carlyle’s UK Buyout and European Healthcare Activities

London, UK – Global investment firm The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Simon Dingemans has been appointed as a Managing Director of the Carlyle European advisory team, effective immediately. 

Mr. Dingemans will become a senior member of the European buyout team and will be responsible for leading Carlyle’s buyout activities in the UK and healthcare coverage across Europe. He will work closely with European Buyout Co-Heads Marco De Benedetti and Gregor Boehm.

Mr. Dingemans’ appointment follows a varied and distinguished career combining both operational and financial experience. From 2011 to 2019, he was Chief Financial Officer for GlaxoSmithKline plc and a member of the Board, where he drove extensive restructuring and operational improvements as well as a number of significant strategic transactions. Prior to GSK, Mr. Dingemans worked in investment banking for 25 years. Having started his career at SG Warburg, he subsequently joined Goldman Sachs where he became a Managing Director and was a Partner for 10 years as a leader of the European M&A business and Head of UK Investment Banking. Most recently, Mr. Dingemans was Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council.
