Carlyle Names Former President and Chairman of Accenture Japan Chikatomo Hodo as Senior Advisor

Tokyo, Japan, September 1, 2021 – Global investment firm, Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Chikatomo Hodo, former President and Chairman of Accenture Japan, has been appointed as Senior Advisor to the Carlyle Japan advisory team, effective from September 1, 2021.

Mr. Hodo will primarily advise the Carlyle Japan team on investment activities in the technology, media and telecom (TMT) sector, including identifying and assessing new opportunities.

Mr. Hodo, former President and Chairman of Accenture Japan, brings to Carlyle nearly 40 years of experience in the TMT sector. He joined Accenture Japan in 1982, and since then, held several leadership roles including Senior Corporate Advisor from 2017 to 2021, Chairman from 2015 to 2017, and President from 2006 to 2015 with overall responsibility for Accenture’s business in Japan. During his career with Accenture, he worked on numerous projects across a wide range of industries including communications, high technology, manufacturing, distribution, and others. In addition, he held advisory roles in the public sector including the Japanese government (Cabinet Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry and Ministry of Education), and he was Vice Chairman/Executive Director of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives from 2017 to 2021.

Mr. Hodo joins a growing team of twelve Senior Advisors and Operating Executives supporting the firm in Japan across its core industry groups, including the appointment of Hiroyuki Aota, former Executive Director of Panasonic Corporation, as Senior Advisor to the Carlyle Japan team on investment activities in the general industries sector.

Carlyle has extensive experience supporting Japanese companies in expanding overseas, enhancing operational efficiencies, and strengthening management infrastructure, for both succession planning and carve-out deals. The team in Japan has made 28 investments to date and completed 18 exits, eight of which have been through IPO.
