Scott Hughes

Scott H. Hughes serves as Chief Operating Officer of Corporate Private Equity Americas.  In this role, he supports the CPE Americas fund heads in oversight of the investment process and monitoring of fund and investment performance, along with overseeing broader strategic and process improvement initiatives.  Mr. Hughes is based in Washington, DC.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Hughes served as an investment professional for over a decade in the Industrial & Transportation sector within Carlyle’s U.S. Buyout fund, where he was actively involved in a number of the firm’s investments, including Novolex, Sciens, Accudyne, and Cepsa. He continues to serve on the Board of Novolex. Prior to Carlyle, he was an analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Merrill Lynch. A native of Mississippi, Mr. Hughes received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and a BA, cum laude, from Columbia University.
