The Carlyle Group Completes United Components, Inc. Acquisition

Washington, DC – Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group announced today that it closed its purchase of United Components, Inc. from UIS, Inc. for approximately $800 million in cash on Friday, June 20, 2003.

With annual revenues of approximately $900 million, United Components is one of the largest and most diversified domestic automotive parts manufacturers with a leading position in all of its major product lines. The company is a leading worldwide manufacturer and distributor of automotive parts and components, supplying a broad range of filtration products, fuel and cooling systems, engine management systems, driveline components and lighting systems to the aftermarket and specialized original equipment channels.
