The Carlyle Group Names Lawrence (Larry) B. Prior III as Operating Executive for Aerospace, Defense & Government Services Team

Washington, DC – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Larry Prior, former President and CEO of information technology services company CSRA, Inc., has been retained as an Operating Executive consultant for the Aerospace, Defense & Government Services team.

Mr. Prior will provide investment guidance, from sourcing to acquisition, to Carlyle professionals in the Global Aerospace, Defense and Government Services Group and advise portfolio company executives on management, operations and growth strategies. He joins a group of more than 40 senior business executives– with an average of more than 30 years of experience – who help Carlyle invest wisely and build value across a range of industries.

Mr. Prior was most recently CEO of CSRA, a $9.6 billion provider of IT, business operations and specialized engineering services for local, state and federal government clients across North America.  Previously, Mr. Prior was Vice President and General Manager of the Defense and Intelligence Group in CSC’s North American Public Sector (NPS) business, providing next-generation technology solutions and mission services to the U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.

As a senior executive with more than 30 years of public and private sector experience, Mr. Prior has an extensive background in intelligence, security, technology and defense initiatives. Before joining CSC, Mr. Prior served as executive vice president of Service Sectors and chief operating officer for BAE Systems Inc. Mr. Prior has held executive leadership positions at ManTech International, SAIC, LightPointe Communications, High Technology Solutions, the County of San Diego and TRW. Earlier in his career, Mr. Prior worked as a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Prior holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Loyola Marymount University and a master’s degree in Security Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
