Michael Silverstein is an Operating Executive focused on the Consumer & Retail sectors.
Mr. Silverstein is an expert in the consumer packaged goods and retail sectors. He joined Boston Consulting Group in 1980 and has been a senior partner since 1993. During his career at BCG, Mr. Silverstein advised CEOs of multi-billion-dollar global companies and helped start and build the firm’s consumer practice, now its largest.
Mr. Silverstein has also authored five books on consumers. Of special interest to him are the buying habits of women, emerging market consumers and millennials. His books include Trading Up, which analyzes middle-class consumers buying luxury goods; and Women Want More, about women’s purchasing behavior around the globe.
Mr. Silverstein serves on the board of Carlyle portfolio company, Acosta, a sales and marketing company.
Mr. Silverstein earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
