Kevin McCarthy is a Managing Director with the Carlyle Power Team. He is based in New York. Mr. McCarthy joined the Carlyle Power Team as a senior-level Principal in July 2014 after a 17 year career at GE Energy Financial Services (EFS).
Mr. McCarthy served in various roles at GE and most recently focused on investing in power assets in North America, as well as guiding the disposition of thermal assets from the EFS portfolio.
Mr. McCarthy previously co-led the Equity Syndication team at GE EFS. His primary focus was to ensure that EFS had adequate sources of alternative equity capital for large mergers and acquisitions transactions, including cultivating globally diverse relationships with institutions seeking co-investment opportunities with EFS.
Prior to 2006, Mr. McCarthy held the role of Managing Director and Co-Chief Risk manager for EFS Power, Transmission and Distribution team. From 2003 to 2005, he managed a large subset of the domestic power portfolio. Mr. McCarthy joined Energy Financial Services' predecessor, GE Structured Finance, in 1997 as an associate, specializing in Marine Finance.
Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and holds an MBA in finance from New York University's Stern School of Business.
