Catalin Breaban is a Managing Director within the RSEF. His sector expertise includes renewable energy, telecom infrastructure and general industrials. He is based in London.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Breaban was Co-Head and founding shareholder of Longspur Capital, a renewable & sustainable investment company based in London. He founded Longspur end of 2017 together with Harry Bond and with the backing of two large single family offices, AtlasInvest and GVO. Catalin has been co-leading Longspur’s private equity investment activities as well as Longspur’s asset management separate vertical under an IMA with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, a listed Asian utility.
Previously, Mr. Breaban was the CEO and founding shareholder of Bluemerang Capital Limited, a UK based renewable investment platform which he set up in 2012 and grew organically and via M&A, achieving an exit in 2018 in a $240m transaction.
Prior to that, he was a VP with Carlyle. Catalin started his career in investment banking, working for 7 years as VP with HSBC Financial Sponsors and as senior associate with Raiffeisen Investment’s industrials’ team.
Mr. Breaban received his MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and BA in business administration from Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest.
