The Carlyle Group Names Former Procter & Gamble Executive Filippo Passerini Operating Executive for the U.S. Buyout Group

Washington, DC – Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Filippo Passerini, former Group President of Global Business Services and Chief Information Officer for Procter & Gamble, will join the firm as an Operating Executive upon his retirement from P&G this summer.

As an Operating Executive, Mr. Passerini will provide strategic guidance to Carlyle professionals throughout the investment process and advise portfolio company executives on management and operational strategies, including business transformation and technology. He joins a group of more than 25 senior business executives – with an average of 40 years of experience – who help Carlyle create value across a range of industries.

Mr. Passerini joined Procter & Gamble in 1981, and for more than three decades helped to build businesses in developed and developing markets. He has lived and worked in the U.K., Latin America, Greece, Italy, Turkey and the U.S. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of United Rentals and is a Visiting Professor for the Politecnico di Milano School of Management and a Professor in Residence at Columbia University.

Mr. Passerini earned his Doctorate in Statistics and Operating Research from the University of Rome in Italy.
