Paddy Spink

Mr. Spink has over 40 years of experience in upstream exploration, business development and operations management in every region of the world. Prior to joining Carlyle International Energy Partners, Mr. Spink spent 23 years with Perenco, joining the company in 1987 shortly before the start of its rapid growth into one of the world’s largest private upstream oil and gas companies. During his career with Perenco, Mr. Spink performed a number of roles including head of exploration, general manager of one of Perenco’s largest subsidiaries, and executive board member (before the company was taken private). During his last 15 years with the company, Mr Spink was head of business development, which coincided with the company’s most rapid period of growth. Particular focus was given to the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

Before joining Perenco, Mr Spink held positions in exploration and operations departments of a number of E&P companies. After leaving Perenco, Mr. Spink founded a consulting business providing upstream investment advice to a number of clients. In addition to his executive roles, Mr Spink was a non-executive director of Ophir Energy until August 2012, and is currently on the board of Discover Exploration. Mr. Spink graduated in 1973 from the University of Lancaster with an Environmental Sciences degree.
