Herman Chang is a Senior Director of Carlyle Asia Partners, a group that makes large control and strategic minority investments in Asia. Herman focuses on the industrial sector and he is based in Shanghai.
Prior to joining Carlyle in 2006, Herman was one of the top leaders in Delphi. He was the head of a Global Business Unit and the Managing Director of Delphi Asia. During his 20 years career in General Motors and Delphi, of which 11 years in Asia and China, he held a number of senior positions including the President of Delphi China and Director of Asia Pacific Operations. His management experience encompasses product development, manufacturing and general management.
In his current role, Herman is involved in the values creation for Carlyle’s portfolio companies and deal sourcing in the industrial and related sectors. He also works with the Carlyle’s global Industrial Group, especially for business where Asia carries a significant role.
Herman received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
