Julian Browne is the Senior Advisor in Europe for Defense, Aerospace and Government industries. He is based in London.
Mr. Browne served in the British Army from 1968-1993. He was commissioned into the Royal Anglian Regiment and commanded his Regiment on operations in Northern Ireland. He also commanded 33 Armoured Brigade and was Chief of Staff of the 2nd Division prior to early retirement from the Army for a career in the defence industry. He was appointed an MBE in 1980 for work in connection with US/UK special operations. Initially with Westland Helicopters Ltd, he led the successful APACHE campaign to win the UK MoD Attack Helicopter programme. Latterly he served for six years on the Boards of Racal Defence Electronics Ltd, Racal-Thompson Networks Ltd and Thales International.
In addition to his Carlyle responsibilities, Mr. Browne serves as Chairman of Lifesaver Defence Ltd, Deputy Chairman of Arkonia Ltd and NP Aerospace Ltd, and a Non-Executive Director of Clarion Defence Ltd. He is also a Senior Advisor to the Boards of Exensor AB (Sweden), DSM Ltd, All Sec Technologies (Chennai, India), EADS Test and Services Ltd, Hacking Team srl (Italy) and Ubisense Ltd.
Mr. Browne graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University in 1968, the Army Staff College in 1977 and attended the United Kingdom Higher Command and Staff College in 1989.
