Leo A. Helmers is a Managing Director and Head of Carlyle Mezzanine Partners. He is based in New York.
Prior to joining Carlyle in August 2003, hes was a Senior Vice President with TCW/Crescent Mezzanine Partners and Trust Company of the West, where he was responsible for investing and managing a portfolio of mezzanine capital across three private limited partnerships. Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Helmers was a Managing Director of Hamilton Lane Advisors, Inc.
Mr. Helmers has over 17 years of experience in the private debt and equity markets. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Shari’s Management Corporation, Targus Group International, Inc. and Taylor-Wharton International, Inc. and a Board Observer of Hawkeye Concrete Products Company.
Mr. Helmers also serves on the Committee on Financial Policy for Lafayette College and The Shipley School Board of Trustees.
He received his M.B.A. from Temple University and a B.S. from Lafayette College. He is a CFA charterholder.
