James C. Shevlet, Jr. is a Managing Director of Carlyle and Co-Head of Carlyle Mezzanine Partners, L.P. He is based in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining Carlyle in September 2003, Mr. Shevlet was a Senior Vice President with TCW/Crescent Mezzanine Partners and Trust Company of the West, where he was responsible for investing and managing a portfolio of mezzanine capital across three private limited partnerships.
Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Shevlet was a Vice President and Principal of Pacific Mezzanine Investors, LLC, an affiliate of Pacific Life Insurance Company, where he analyzed and structured a variety of private debt and equity transactions. Mr. Shevlet has over 18 years of experience in the private debt and equity markets. Mr. Shevlet is currently a member of the Board of Directors of United Road Towing, Inc. and a Board Observer of International Aluminum Corporation, Mattress Giant Corporation, Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. and Voice Construction, Ltd.
Mr. Shevlet graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan and received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
