Edward Man is a Director with Carlyle Asia Buyout and Carlyle Beijing RMB focusing on buyouts, privatizations and strategic minority investments in China. Prior investment experiences were in the retail, business services, industrial, chemical, food, transportation, consumer and media sectors. Mr. Man is based in Hong Kong.
Since joining Carlyle in 2000, Mr. Man has been actively involved with Carlyle Asia's investment in three of its current portfolio companies: Jiangsu Sinorgchem Technology Co., Ltd, China Fishery Group Ltd and, in partnership with Carlyle U.S. Buyout, Project Maritime. Mr. Man also executed Carlyle Beijing's first RMB investment in a Chinese media company.
Mr. Man was a core member of the transaction team that executed Carlyle’s investment in Pacific China Holdings Limited (Carlyle's first investment and exit in China), Caribbean Investment Holdings Limited, and Yangzhou Chengde Steel Tube Co., Ltd, which were all exited to strategic buyers.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Man was with Lehman Brothers in New York and London, as well as with Deloitte in New York as a CPA.
Mr. Man received a Masters of accounting and B.B.A. degrees from University of Michigan Ross School of Business. He is currently serving as a member of the University of Michigan Ross Alumni Board of Governors.
Mr. Man is a member of the Board of Directors of Carlyle Beijing's first RMB investment in the Chinese media company and Project Maritime, and an observer on the Board of Directors of Jiangsu Sinorgchem Technology Co., Ltd and China Fishery Group Ltd.
