Ray Whiteman is the Co-Head of Carlyle Strategic Partners (“CSP”), a global distressed and corporate opportunities fund with $1.6 billion under management. Mr. Whiteman has 13 years of private equity and distressed investing experience. Prior to joining Carlyle in May 1996, Mr. Whiteman was a Vice President and Group Head in the Leveraged Finance Department of Credit Lyonnais. Mr. Whiteman has also held several positions at both Citicorp and The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A.
Mr. Whiteman graduated with B.A. in political science from Williams College, where he was a Lehman Scholar, and holds an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from New York University.
Mr. Whiteman currently serves on the Board of Diversified Machine Inc., and MD Investors Corporation, holding company of Metaldyne, LLC, both current CSP portfolio companies; the Executive Committee of the National Symphony Orchestra of The John F. Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art. In the past Mr. Whiteman has sat on numerous boards of other Carlyle portfolio companies.
