David T. W. Tung is a Managing Director responsible for investor relations in the Asia Pacific region. He is based in Singapore.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Tung was a Managing Director with the Private Equity group at Merrill Lynch, where he was based in Singapore. Beginning in 1996, Mr. Tung led the fundraising initiatives for several Asian investment partnerships that Merrill Lynch represented as the placement agent. Prior to that, Mr. Tung was an Executive Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. from 1986 to 1995. He worked in both the Investment Banking Division and subsequently the Asset Management Division in both London and Hong Kong.
Mr. Tung earned his M.B.A. from the City University Business School, London, and a B.S. in computer science from the University of London. From 1986 to 2000, he held Series 7 and Series 63 licenses, and an Investment Adviser license with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission from 1990 to 1995. Mr. Tung is a native Mandarin speaker.
